Official looking envelope but from a car dealer!
Man, I hate these. It's a deal sending me a check good toward a new car. But the envelope has the statue of liberty in the return address, it says Deptartment of Something or other, and has a big red strip across the middle with WARNINGs about tampering; meant only for addressee and a fine and imprisonment warning.

So I called the dealership. The manager said it was just amrketing. I told him it was deceptive. I worry about people like my mother, 80+ years old and very concerned about doing the right thing. She'd think this was something important.

I still hate it but I told him I'd never stop at his dealership. I guess I'm not the demographic they were going for with this.

End of rant!

2. You may want to report this one...
To Maine's Consumer Protection Division. A lot of these promotions cross the line, and it's hard for those agencies to keep up with all of the shadiness by themselves. To parapharse another organization legendary for that: C'mon, send it in! But to the Consumer Protection Division!

B-)

3. I hate those decieving mails too
I used to have a collection of about 10 or so really ridiculously misleading ones. I was going to scan them and make a web page about them, but my husband threw them away.

4. Goit some a while back with no return address...
I knew what they were, but i toyed with the idea for a few days of calling the cops like the USPS told us to do with "suspicious" envelops w/no RA....

I shred the shit, since I deal with a "reputable" dealer only.

5. I get these things all the time. They look like bills and have
"Time Sensitive! Urgent!" marked on the envelope in red. I open them up to find out they're credit card offers. I hate that. Marketing, my ass! Deception, pure and simple.
