one of my bosses offered to buy chili for everyone |
|
from some church fundraiser. it is $8 a bowl. i think i should get $8 since i can't eat it on my diet (la weightloss). doesn't that seem fair.

2. I'd ask what church, and if it's an ultra-fundie church, I'd ask him |
|
to donate the $8 to a real charity instead.

7. Are you asking me? If so. . . |
|
Most ultra-fundie type churches spew the Bush bile and do their damndest to manipulate their congregations into voting the way they want. The do so and somehow remain tax-exempt institutions. I'll be damned if I'd allow them any extra tax free dollars with which to spread their venom.

I quite understand your question and its reasoning.

24. Okay. I think THAT question meant "is an Episcopalian church |
|
ultra-fundie or not?" I'd say in many cases it's not. Episcopalians are like Catholic Light :). Less dogma, more karma :) They allow women and homosexuals into the clergy as far as I know, not exactly ultra fundie :)

8. At most you're entitled to |
|
the fair market value of the chili.
The rest is a donation to the charity.

when you could just take the money instead. :eyes:

13. Your diet is optional, or a necessity of your own creation, depending |
|
on how you look at it.
Sure, an alternative would be nice, but refusing a gift of one variety doesn't immediately grant you the right ( or mandate in current terminology ) to pick a gift of equal value.

19. Once, for my birthday, |

a friend of mine bought me an ample bag of pot. I don't smoke pot, so I declined her gift and thanked her profusely for remembering my birthday. I did not ask her to give me the cost of a lid of shit in cash.
