Glad to hear you're still alive. I don't think any of us really knows what to feel now.

I can't watch the news. Period. It makes me sick to my stomach.
I'm watching "Attack of the Puppet Masters" right now and cleaning out my online bookmarks.
Tread softly for a few days until the shock wears off, then get back to work subverting the dominant paradigm!

11. MATCOM, do what you must, but know you are really respected here |
|
I just went for a walk in the cool fall wind with the company of a good dog and a delightfully innocent and bright four year old girl. The dog found a dead skunk to roll in and the girl made some very insightful comments. Taken all together, it did much to clear my head. ;)
I am older that you and probably more tired than you have ever been in your life, but I will stand my little bit of ground and fight on. Hope I can look to the east and know you are there too.
Never really liked big cities and never had much desire to see the East Coast Megaopolis, but I would love to see Boston one day. And Philly too. To me, it is holy ground and I will probably take off my shoes in places if I ever get there.
You stand on holy ground MATCOM. This old westerner hopes you decide to hold that ground. The way you feel now is not what forever feels like.

I disagree with sniffa. I just oscillate between depression and rage.
I'm not getting over it.
Not that I know what to do about it either.
But I'd happily consider a get-together.

like minds on DU... but also know you are lucky to be in a VERY BLUE state.... While I live in one of Colorado's few "bastions" of liberalism (Denver) I am very conscious that I am in a very conservative, RED state. I've already faced serious repercussions in the past year for being too vocal about my political beliefs in the job setting. (Sadly, I now will NEVER talk of politics in the work setting again-- at least nothing specific). Nonetheless, we voted in a new Dem Senator (Salizar) and our Statehouse has Dem majorities in both houses! So, that is our hope for the future. Sadly, if our still incomplete returns are to be believed, Bush* won the state. As one who gladly joined many many others in waiting in line 2 hours or more for early voting last week, I find that very hard to believe.
My hope lies with long, head-clearing (stress-relieving) walks with my dogs in the beautiful crisp fall sunshine. Be well. Be strong.
