Wrong 'Em Boyo!!!
I figured that would be enough to get only the hard core Clash fans to check this thread. Anyway, I just got 'London Calling' - 25th Anniversary Legacy Edition in the mail today and it's absolutely fantastic. Besides a remastered CD of the original LP, there's also a CD of 'The Vanilla Tapes', the previously unheard rehearsal sessions including five new songs, all done in a car repair garage. Interestingly, these tapes were made before they did the studio versions. Then, there's the DVD of 'The Last Testament - The Making of London Calling' - a black and white film of the recording sessions that was lost for 25 years and found by some fans at a sale some guy was having out of the trunk of his car. All digitized and cleaned up.

As a Clash fan - I'm delirious - and "delirious" is something I'm jonesing for bigtime right now.

Oh, yeah, and I finally got 'The Essential Clash' with all the promo videos, videos and Joe Strummer's unreleased movie 'Hell W10'. Ain't seen it yet, but I'll get to it.

3. Why, of course!
As long as I see a gold star by your name, you're okay by me.

Others need to supply references.

6. If you can find it, last month's UnCut has a huge story about
The recording of the album, with lots of stuff about the studio above a car repair shop where they rehearsed and more or less wrote the whole thing.

I had seen them four or five times when they came back to the US just before London Calling came out and when they went into Clampdown...well, 25 years later, I remember it distinctly. I thought it remained their best song live, apart from Complete Control and Garageland.

7. My biggest regret...
...musically, anyway, is never seeing The Clash live. I had the opportunity, when I was 13, for the admittedly lacking "Combat Rock" tour, but I ended up getting grounded :(

Damn, you, caring parent!!

8. P.S. There's something about "London Calling" and "25th anniversary"
which is so...uh...depressing. Am I that old? Are we that old?

9. Jimi Hendrix soothed this savage beast yesterday...
The fine compilation album "South Saturn Delta" did the trick to get me out of my funk. That plus yelling "BOOOOOOOSSSSSHHHHHH!!!!" at all the passing cars with Bush stickers.

10. you rang? I know I heard someone call me!
Hell W10 is a riot - lots and lots of Ray Jordan and Paul - sort of on the order of the Call Up video. Joe isn't in it much - he plays a COP!!! Hilarious.

BTW - I have the Vanilla tapes - what a disappointment - most of it left over footage from the Don Letts film and it has a ton of interview footage with Kosmo Vinyl - blech...
