Whew! Darn hit a deer a few minutes ago!
Was coming back to the office, and cruising up the driveway which has a near-hairpin turn in it, and wham - a big old deer right there in the driveway just after the turn. Thankfully, I wasn't going that fast, and as I was rounding the turn, I was thinking to myself, "I should slow down - there might be a deer here."

And I was right!

Then I sat there in the car, and waited for the other deer to cross the road. Not that the deer knew I was waiting for it to cross - I almost waved to it to go before I remembered that a deer doesn't know what the wavey sign means - but I felt I better wait for it. Thankfully, it bolted after a few seconds.

Beautiful animals.

3. Every time I see a deer,
...as soon as I think to myself, "Wow! A deer!", it seems to pick up on that and take off. I'm about the worst deer hunter ever. I guess 'think' too loudly. Don't bother trying anymore.

I had a deer wake me up while driving once, though. I'd fallen asleep while driving on HWY 59 outside of Waukesha, and woke to the sight of deer hooves gracefully clicking over my hood. It had entirely cleared my tiny Chevette, and somehow woken me at the same time.

Thanks, deer!

6. Holy moly!
Good thing you weren't driving a taller car...

Sorry to hear that the deer can hear you thinking.

4. How lucky you folks are to live
somewhere where there actually are deer! And I wave at the TV and scream at the 'fuzer, or is that the other way around? So waving at a deer is just fine!

The idea of Deer in The City was just a bit more incongruity than I can take this week. :silly:

edit: Glad you, the deer, and your car are all safe and well.

9. Thank you! I'm glad, too!
I love my car. I don't want any damage ever to happen to it.

I never thought I could become attached to a car, but this one I've wanted for twenty years; and the waiting was worth it, and accurate. I really do love it!

Sometimes I open the door to the garage (from the kitchen) just to take a peek at it. And then I smile.

10. I hit one in July
Saw it coming out of the corner of my eye. By the time I hit my brake pedal, I had knocked his legs out from under him and he landed on my hood. He was thrown off as I stopped, he bounced off the road in front of me, then stood up, shook him self and kept going. He was an 8 point buck, absoultely beautiful. No blood, just some hair in my grill.

Total damage, over $2300, covered by insurance.

As much as I love animals, where I live, they are becoming the number one cause of accidents over all other causes.

11. We're totally overpopulated here, too
Getting to be a major nuisance.

They really need to be weeded out. Hopefully, this deer hunting season, they will be.
