Anyone Ever See The Movie About Evangelists Called "Elmer Gantry"?
with Burt Lancaster (I had a major crush on him when little).

All this talk about Evangelism made me think of this movie which played on TV right before the election.

Burt Lancaster plays a con-man preacher who knows how to thump a bible and also how to play politics.

1. I read the book.
Sinclair Lewis should be read by ALL progressives. "Elmer Gantry" and "It Can't Happen Here" especially.

2. "Babbitt" is good too.
It really shows how shallow these boosters are.

5. Yes. It's a truly great film, and a very important one
It's about the politics of organized religion, and about true spirituality. A fascinating film, and still very relevant.
