Jeb Bush / Dubya* ticket in 2008? |
|
When I thought of this, a shiver went down my spine.
<tinfoilhat-nightmare> When they get elected, they go through with the inauguration and everything looks plenty scary UNTIL Jeb respectfully backs out of the Presidency and it's * for ANOTHER four years! </tinfoilhat-nightmare>

3. That would be unconstitutional, |
|
No one may serve more than ten years total as President, under the Constitution. Two years of someone else's term, if succeeding from the Vice Presidency, and two elected terms.

4. They'll have to change the constitution. |
|
A person who does not qualify for the office of president (Chimpy, after two terms) cannot be nominated for Vice-President. We went through this after 2000 wondering if Clinton could be nominated as VP on the 2004 ticket. Can't happen.

7. watch for talk of a Constitutional amendment to abolish 2-term limits |
|
so George W can run again and be the elected King.
after all, you can't change horses mid-stream, he has a war on terror, democracy and dissent to win.
Democrats would have gladly voted for Clinton again if such an amendment had been pursued. thing is Democrats respect the Constitution and would dare suggest that.
now fundi Republicans
$5 says the issue will arise

10. You know, there is no way I would take you up on that bet. |
|
Because what you say is completely true. Do Democrats still control at least 1/3 of state houses? Because that's the only way we could stop such an amendment. (Or does it take 3/5 to pass?)
