I see so many threads about gays costing the election and then threads about gays not costing the election. You guys are so great about sticking up for each other. I just noticed it and I think it's great. As a gay man, I know damn good and well I did not cost this election. I helped this election. Without me, that would have been even a wider margin of win for Bush and Co.

Anyway, I think most people here are very open minded and you guys all rock.

we deserve the same rights. They'll make you pay taxes, they'll draft you...yet they won't afford you any benefits, they won't let you raise your children, they won't let you visit your loved one in the hospital without family consent. Holy War (HIV + gay men I knew in art school) back in the early 80's, when Saint Ronald wouldn't even acknowledge the epidemic. I miss Steve every day. Leaving the gay community behind would be like leaving a man behind on the battlefield. Not that anyone in the White House would know what that's like.

However, we have to decide if gay marriage is too great a liability to our political life, though, at this point in history.

That may sound like I want it both ways (excuse the pun). But we are apparently overestimating the openmindedness of our nation. I wish I had an easy answer for this whole fucked up sitch.
