Charity Recommendations... Opinions Please.
I'm trying to figure out charitable donations for payroll deduction!

I respect the opinions of DU members very much, so any comments (positive or negative) on the charities below would be much appreciated.

1. I'm trying to choose between:
-Sierra Club
or
-Conservation Fund

2. I'm trying to determine if this one is worth supporting:
-Project Vote/Voting for America, Inc

3. I'm trying to choose between:
-Doctors without Boarders
or
-Oxfam

4. I'm trying to determine if this one is worth supporting:
-Operation USA

I'll also take suggestions on other charities that support similar causes.

Not a charity, but still non-profit and tax-deductible.

3. On #1 I'd go with the Nature Conservancy
Great group. They buy land to set aside so it can never be developed. And they encourage landowners to donate their property.

6. Local battered women's shelter? Local humane society?
America's Second Harvest?

So many worthy causes out there. Good luck in making your choice.

7. First, check Guidestar.org for info on the charity you do choose
Make sure that your money is going to do something that you want it to do.

I donate exclusively to animal advocacy charities, so I can't help you much beyond this.
