Need some ISP advice/opinions...
I'm currently on a cable modem hook-up. After this election, I really don't want to support the cable company anymore. I've found an ISP provider that is eco/dem friendly, which has DSL connections. If anyone has had both, is the DSL connection a lot slower, or is there a huge difference? I have no idea about DSL vs. Cable. Any help?

...my internet provider says its 3 Mps, but its probably closer to 2.7 Mps. At least thats what it said when I did a self test.

10. Thanks...
..I'll check again what their DSL speed is. 1.5 doesn't sound bad at all.

http://www.redjellyfish.com/ This one also has the DSL and long distance service, along with the traditional dial-up service.

The other is at:

I've posted this info. in the general discussion forum, since I think we need to support companies that support us.

5. I have had both.
DSL is quite a bit slower. However, it may be fast enough, especially if you just surf and check email.

If you are into heavy-duty file swapping or other bandwidth-intensive stuff, you will miss your cable modem.

7. DSL rate speeds are governed by the ISP.
A lot of SPs have various plans where the more you pay, the faster you go. However, unless your DSL connection is REALLY slow even by DSL standards, you should have no problem with RealPlayer streams for stuff like AAR. Streaming audio has the crap compressed out of it and doesn't use that much bandwidth.
