the proper direction for your satellite provider.
The best reception comes from placing the antenna on your rooftop and threading the antenna cable through some hole (window, maybe) into your house and to your receiver. Do you have Sirius or XM?

I have it to the sound system and the antenna cord is long enough for me to get reception. My mom doesn't need it by a window at her house. Just sets it next to the boombox on the tv. Upstairs we use the boombox, but have it by a window again. Once again the antenna has plenty of cord with it to get it where reception works. Winter is better cause the leaves are all gone!
