Poll question: Is It Worse To Be Hated or Ignored?
Originally, I meant this as a question for gay DUers, but I guess its broad enough to apply to anyone who falls into a minority group of people who are looked down upon in society.

If I was gay, I don't know what would be worse, being out in the open and hated, or being closeted and ignored.

If I was gay I guess I'd feel better about myself having come out and be who I am and not ashamed of it. But then again, nobody wants to be hated.

Alas, one can't live their life, and call it a life, if they're ignored and silent.

1. Quote in "The outsiders"
I like it better when the old man's hitting me. At least he knows I'm there.

2. There are degrees of hate...
Pissing off right wingers enough to put their undies in a bunch is fun.

Pissing off right wingers so much that they become violent animals, beating and torturing you and hanging you on a fence overnight to freeze to death is not fun.

4. oh ya
I am in middle school and I know what its like. Currently my Best friend is ignoring me because I said it was really really nasty when she spit out food all over me when she was laughing about something. So she said to me, "shut up it's a bad habit of mine." And then left.:puke: :silly:

5. There's an applicable Oscar Wilde quote about this....
"I'd rather be talked about than not talked about at all" or something.

Hate is a strong, strong feeling. When you hate someone, they have power over you.

When you ignore someone, it's like they don't even exist. It's crushing to be on the receiving end of that.

7. Ignored.
At least if you're hated, you can fight back.
How can you do anything if you "don't exist," so to speak?

8. Ignored - it's why "shunning" was such an effective tool of control
in some cultures.
