Does anybody else have this internet (or computer) problem ? |
|
On my home computer I use 56k dial-up...Whenever I visit any site with pictures and I click on the link, the picture will appear and upload ok until it reaches approximately 56kb in size, then it will stop...for like 10, 20, 30 seconds, depending, then it will commence, although at a slower speed. If it's a large picture it as often as not stop again at say 112kb...I find this kinda frustrating and am wondering if there's something wrong with my computer or what? And has anybody else ever had this annoyance?
Thanks!

1. you're getting it in "packets" |
|
and how rapidly those packets come in depend on both how busy your local dialup is and how busy the site is.
Surf at 4 AM. You'll be amazed at the difference in speed.

I visit from my work computer a lot (it's dsl between 8-5 pacific time) and it's a hellofalot quicker I must say that! I'm glad this is the slack time for work...
But at home, yeah, any post with over 30-40 replies I tend to avoid unless I really want to read it...And then I usually find something else to do just before I click on it, like wash the dishes, mow the lawn, remodel the kitchen...
Someday soon I'll get dsl here, I hope!

 I live 2 miles down an old dirt road - the phone lines are probably 40 + years old, my dial up is supposed to be 56, the max I ever get is 21.6, I have some kind of accerlerator thingy (if anybody wants to explain it to me go ahead and try) that says its going at 73 or more occasionally even at braodband speed once in a while. Still I don't really notice any difference. It must be cool to have it go fast. Wonder if satellite is worth it??
I can never watch clip of video off the internet but stuff that people send in e - mails works - even though it takes for ever to get into my mailbox. Can't listen to AAR either
