Go see "Saw"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hitchcock couldn't have done it better. This is an amazing flick, well worth seeing on the big screen.

For those who don't know, it's a psychological thriller in the purest sense. Two men wake up to find themselves in leg irons, chained to the walls in opposite corners of a dark, filthy, seemingly abandoned room. Neither remembers how they got there, and they don't know who the other man is.

When one of them finds the light switch, they discover sprawled on the floor between them a dead man, covered in blood, with a gun in his hand...

It's one of the best movies I've seen this year. Go see it.

If I ever get out and see a movie again any time soon I'll check it out.

2. My sister liked it too.
One of the guys in leg irons (the one that's not Cary Elwes :loveya: ) is in fact the screenwriter, which I think is pretty cool.

3. I'm actually afraid of that movie
which is why I haven't seen it yet, but after your post, I'm considering it again

Is it true there is a scene where someone has 90 seconds to remove a key from a passed out guy's stomach or her jaw is going to be ripped off by a "reverse bear trap"?

5. Want some good news?
Due to the unexpected big opening (17 mil for a movie that cost 1 mil to make) Saw 2 is in pre-production, due for Halloween 2005 release..

6. I don't like to see-saw. It nauseates me.
Plus, you need a balance between the two people's weights.

14. No, you are WRONG! It's a silly, silly film. SILLY!

SILLY, I say! And again! SILLY!

Although bits of were, in fact, extremely good, and I certainly don't regret watching it...

It was.... SILLY! It's full of plot-holes you could lob a bus through!

:-)

Having said that I did enjoy it. I just don't think I should have! I feel strangely cheated!

15. Ever hear of a "willing suspension of disbelief"?
That's what you have to do when you go to a movie like this. Don't analyze it, don't pick at the holes, don't pull on the loose threads. Just sit back in the dark and go with the flow. It's so much more fun that way!

18. I am not unfamilar with the term

I just think some film makers put together the mesh to make it work better than others. I mean, BLARG! Some of the set pieces were fantastic, but some bits of the film directly contradict others! For no reason! You could miss out bits of dialogue that contradict others without affecting the plot at all! The premise was good, but patchily executed.

I shall be clearer, I will certainly go see other films by these guys, and considering the budget and stuff it all came aross very professionally. I did enjoy it, but sometimes the bits that were supposed to be scary just weren't at all... there you go. Largely a matter of taste, frightening things, I suppose...

20. suspension of disbelief, yes
BUT...it should be a LOGICAL suspension of beliefs. I.e., you accept how things work in a universe, as long as its consistent. Inconsistency can kill an otherwise good movie. anyway, i definately plan to see it, both because of the reviews and because of sarah michelle gellar:)

16. did you think so?
My wife and I went last night. I'm a sucker for thrillers/horror movies, but to me, it seemed that the movie couldn't find it's identity. Was it trying to be deep like "Seven", was it trying to be a cheesy horror film? I couldn't get a grip on the direction. And the acting was PUTRID. God Bless Danny Glover, but this was a stain on his resume.

Still, I will easily admit there were parts early on where I couldn't even open my eyes. I just thought that it lost a lot as it dragged on. Great premise though.

19. Well, to be fair

Rotten Tomatoes does exist pretty much to point fingers and laugh. Some bits of Saw were really original and terrifying.

Music was pretty good too.

I just think it's unfortunate that the patches were so badly sewn together.
