Aw, Damn! Sundance canceled Al Franken!
Apparently, tonight's "Al Franken Show" was the last show on the Sundance Channel!

This is an election thing, obviously.

I don't get Air America in my town yet, so I'll have to go the internet for more Al.

1. I think it was their plan to have it on only during the election.

2. you won't miss much
Franken is ineffective and unfunny, probably turned some Democrats to vote for Bush. Try real talk-show hosts on AAR like Mike Malloy or Randi Rhodes.

3. I kind of agree

I love Al, but I don't know, I think three hours at a time is too long for him. He can do amazing things, absolutely AMAZING, like when I saw him on David Letterman tonight, but only in short spurts, I guess. I guess it's just naturally hard to be funny forever. Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy, they're not comedians, though they can be riotously funny, especially Randi, but that's not the point.

9. I think Franken's show is ok...
but he needs to learn what a DLC Democrat is so he can stop being one.

12. First of all blow it out your ass
Second of all good Saturday morning :hi:

Franken's show is hilarious, informative, and great to have on at work. If you don't get Franken's sense of humor fine but it is refreshing to listen to as opposed to the normal screamfest that talk radio is. I like Randi and I have met Mike (very nice guy good show too) but Franken's show is great (IMHO). I love it.

Lastly I have heard that Redford said fuck it and is moving to Ireland.

14. True that, Franken is perfect to listen to at work.
He's far more mellow than "Unfiltered" (my absolute favorite) or Randi, which is precisely why he's such a bore on the idjitbox, but at work he's great.

22. give it up
Franken is a bore, but good morning to you too....=)

if you think he's 'hilarious', what adjective would you use for Lucille Ball, the Marx Brothers or even one of Franken's friends, Dana Carvey?

Franken is weak, and a poor advocate for liberal causes.

no wonder you think Franken is hilarious. But now you're only saying 'funny'. He's funny the same way my visiting uncle fom Maine is funny, in that lame kinda way.

24. Radio Shows Don't Make for Good Television
Howard Stern and Don Imus are hard to watch as well.

4. Al Franken is more effective in print
his books are really good but I have to say the radio show is somewhat slow. Perhaps in time it will get better.

15. And the alternative would be? My hubby is a contractor for DHL, whose
motto could be...

Seig Heil!

Oddly, they LOVE him, brown skin and all, but man the attitudes they have would curl your short ones.

6. I love Al.
I also like his show, but I just don't think it's well-suited for this post-election mess. He is a DLCer at heart and doesn't understand or believe in BBV, and that's why I think Randi, Janeane and Sam, and Mike Malloy are the best of AAR at the moment.

At his heart, Al is a writer. He's very skilled at performance comedy too, but he simply doesn't have the flaming rage I think we're all looking for right now.

8. Radio shows were meant for radio
I listen to Al everyday. Some days he sucks, some days it's brilliant. But in general radio shows are TV are horrible (ie Howard, O'Lielly)

10. That is too bad if only for this reason...
I so much wanted the dittohead Mark Luther to appear live in studio so I could see Al suddenly grab him in a headlock and pummel him into unconciousness...

But I don't have cable so such a fantasy must remain as it is, a fantasy, alas, oh well...

16. I think even Al is reaching that point.
I KNOW Katherine is. I'd live to hear her just take over the phone one day and just go after Luther.

She seems to be dying to.

11. What?! He has been my lifeline!
I can't listen to him during the day, and other shows, like "The Daily Show" and, especially, "Real Time With Bill Maher," leave me cold, since they were so critical of John Kerry, who they purport to support. Only Al Franken kept on-message and didn't trade comedy for truth. He is, to quote the odious Joe Scarborough, "the real deal." I depend on him. I don't want him to go away.;(

13. Enjoy the radio show, hated the idjitbox version.
For those who don't get AAR, I can see why you'd mourn this, but for those of us who can listen, the idjitbox versionwas as stimulating as watching paint dry.

Actually, I'd suggest the give Katherine the show and let Al back HER up.
