couple of thoughts out to universe please -- sick cat
Kudra is about 19 yrs old, the "tough-cat" of our collection of critters

she has a sinus infection and is on meds (went to vet yesterday)-- but at her age we are still concerned -- a few prayers, thoughts etc. out to the universe is appreciated

although all bodily functions are functioning (eating/drinking/elimination) -- she has lost a bit of weight. Vet is checking out her thyroid -- apparently thryoid problems in "senior" cats is not uncommon

we think the problem with her sinuses is the wood stove, been running it in order to conserve heating oil -- we have a pan of water on the stove to provide some humidity and will be looking around today for a second one to provide even more humidity

Kudra likes to sleep next to the stove -- real close -- sometimes sooo close I swear her fur starts smoking (just joking). We've put up a "screen" around the stove to prevent her and the other critters from getting toooo close, hopefully this will help

2. Sorry to hear about Kudra ...
... and hope for the best for her. Hope the critters realize the water on the wood stove is not to drink. Yikes!

3. I'm so sorry. We have a cat with hyperthyroidism. If she doesn't like
to be pilled, see if they can get you trans-dermal meds. Ours is on it and it is much easier to apply. Good luck and hope there is a speedy recovery.

5. I wish Kudra and you my heartfelt best...
19 is up there for a cat but they'll hang on as long as possible...I've actually met a 24 year old cat! My Felix is 14 and I'm monitoring him constantly...I spend more on him than I do myself when it comes to medical bills but he has been a special buddy to me since 1990...

I'll be thinking about Kudra over the next few days and if you wish please provide an update...I hope she's ok for a few years more but you know that is a great old age for a cat to achieve, and I know she did it with the help of your love...

8. we lost Ches about 3 years ago
he was 21-22 yrs old

Kudra is now the "elder", followed by Dutch (16)
other cats are Pookah(3) and Gato(3-4 rescued stray so age is a guess)

the two dogs - Dax (8) the airdale, and Sunny (4) the greyhound

I also have a "colony" of 9 feral cats at work that I've been feeding -- mostly kittens under a year old (5-6 months old). have "tamed" down about 3 of them and am working on finding them homes -- they will allow me to pet them, but are still a bit "apprehensive" about being picked up

6. Head butts and purrs from me and mine to yours
Sounds like she'll be alright. You must take wonderful care of her. Another thing I'll looking into is these heating pads they sell especially for elder and arthritic cats. (I'm going to get them for my cats this year for Christmas). Getting her one of these might give her a little distance from the stove and still be comfortable.
