Gotta love New Hampshire: 6-pack+pack of cigs+ newspeper = $7 |
|
In Boston, that'd run at least $10. The smokes alone would be $6.
Yeah, I should quit. Shaddap.

Saving money is sooo cool. My last vice is cream in my coffee. But we don't have Starbucks here in VT, so I really save on the whole deal.
Bravo the last frontier!

Before McGreevey's War on Smokers.
If your talking run of the mill beer (Bud, Miller), thats 5 bucks. Smokes, a good price is 5.50, but most liquor stores they'll go a bit over 6. And our newspapers are still 50 cents though. Unless its the Times.
thats why i order smokes from the native americans.

6. Damned liberal nanny state |
|
Who knows how many voters we've lost over this. To pay for health care costs, then have states turn around and actually use the money to build more roads so there will be more cars and more pollution causing more health problems. Go figure.

|
and that's after tax...but not for long.
OK just passed a new "tax" on ciggies. Eliminated sales tax and will charge 4¢ PER CIG!! (That is 80¢ per pack increase for the mathematically challenged among us)
Smoke 'em if you got em

14. That's about what we pay now, in Ohio. |
|
I cut way back and switched to American Spirits a couple of years ago (I've let it get out of control this week, but not so bad I can't get back on my 5-6 a day plan, I hope!), they're $4.50 a pack with tax. Philip Morris brands are close to $4 a pack.
As someone else mentioned, they pushed a big 'sin tax' increase promising to spend the money on public health stuff, then threw it into the general fund within a year.

30. do the indians have to collect that new okla 4-cent per cig tax? |
|
Live eight miles south of The Chickasaw Travel Plaza and Smokeshop at exit one on interstate 35. Have spent many hours over the years talking to the clerks about cigarette laws.
They were collecting a small percentage of the Oklahoma sales tax. Nobody seems to know how the new 4-cent per cig tax will apply.
Currently a carton of nice generics is $15.85. Basic math skills show a potential increase of $8.00 per carton. That's $1.59 per pack to $2.39
A six-pack is $5.40 at the travel center, and a Dallas Morning News or Daily Oklahoman is 50-cents in the newsrack out front.
Blackjack is coming to the "casino".

On edit: Native American reservations are a good place to get cheap smokes, although they don't sell liquor (at least not at the reservations I've been to).
