anyone here visited Bolivia ? |
|
I have a dream of visiting there for personal reasons. Insights appreciated. G.A.P. has some cheap tours offered, wondered if anyone had tried them.
Supposedly I have enough frequent flyer miles to get a free roundtrip ticket in coach.

1. Isn't that where Butch & Sundance go? |

They didn't have much luck there, but maybe you will...
Another great Strother Martin role...

I am not fleeing the law and I do expect to return, but yeah, it is now that you mention it.

2. Yes, I visited Santa Cruz about 7 years ago |

It's a beautiful place. Not much major crime but a lot of minor stuff--pick-pocketing, auto theft, stuff like that. Peaceful people. Lovely landscape. It's definitely a 3rd-world country but I never felt inconvenienced or threatened. I traveled all over the southern part of the country down toward Argentina. They eat a lot of beef! But plenty of veggies, too.
If you go, be sure to visit Machu Picchu in Peru. That's an amazing place and I'd love to go back.
I heartily recommend Bolivia! Buena suerte!

4. yeah, I might try one of the peru plus bolivia tours |

I am looking to improve my bird list but birding tours to the area are like an order of magnitude more expensive than a G.A.P. tour or just a backpacker's trip.
