My son (he's 8) wanted me to take him to The Incredibles, which was opening this weekend. All I knew about it was that it was animated and PG. I hadn't seen any major buzz for it ahead of time (though I confess I don't watch but a fraction of kid's TV that I used to, because of the runup to the election).
All I can say is... Holy Crap! This was the best damn movie I've seen in a long time - it just blew me away (disclaimer: I have not seen Team America yet or whatever that's called). I was expecting something on the order of maybe a... I don't know.. about as riveting as the upcoming SpongeBob movie. I didn't know anything about it. It was just effing... how do I say... incredible.
It was a cool-ass movie. The less you know about it going in, the more blown away you'll be.
See it and enjoy!

2. Just got back from seeing it |

It was indeed "Incredible". It was completely packed at my local theater. We were lucky to find any seats at all.

I totally was psyched through the movie, and for 2 hours, forgot my frustration (except for the 9/11-ish scenes).
And you know what - people were applauding! I've seen people applaud F9/11, and a few other movies long ago (like Free Willy or some silly thing like that). I don't think I've ever seen an audience applaud an animated film. They also applauded that weird lead-in short about the sheep (which was good, but weird).
Seriously - see this flick.

5. I thought the previews looked pretty dumb. |
|
But maybe I'll check it out. Better than Nemo?

6. My daughter and I loved it...it was put together by the 'Iron Giant'... |
|
...director. That's the main reason I went to go see it. We loved Iron Giant and the Incredibles was even better.

8. I usually don't frequent theatres |

Few really get me in the mood to spend 15 bucks to be disappointed (No, I didn't see Captain Whatever and the incredible CGI Army in the Battle for the lost plot - whatever that movie was named).
I did, though, like the first preview I saw for it. I loved the idea of an invincible superhero struggling in a life or death battle with trying to secure his belt . . . especially when he pounds on the desk in frustration (too real!), and when he sits there, staring at it, like it was somehow the belt's fault . . .
