1. Ain't that a great feeling? I had a similar one the other day with
programming for a palm pilot.

I was frickin ecstatic.

2. Mine works great on my Windows 98 laptop.
However, after downloading XP SP2 for my desktop, it refuses to work properly now. :grr:

Actually, before SP2, my wireless network took all of about 5 minutes to set up, and it worked great.

Thank goodness for my clunky old laptop or I'd be DU-less. :o

5. Of course, my laptop - excellent laptop, otherwise - has *@(&^$%^ ME on it
Piece of shit operating system.

I'm sure if I had a GOOD OS on it, the wireless thing would have worked better.

Oh, and also, of course, the laptop came only with a CD with an "image" of the ME OS, proprietary for the laptop, so anytime I need a (*#@&%*R driver for something, I don't own it....CUZ i DON'T HAVE A FUCKING ME DISK!

Anyway, good to see you, GOPisEvil! Hope you are well.

7. Good to see you, too!
All is pretty well, all things considered.

I'd like to put Win2k on this thing, but 98 is working...so far.

3. Now take some mineral water, put it in a spray bottle... turn off the
lights and spray it around the room to see the teeny little packets floating around in a jubilant fashion!!!! If you are lucky... you will be able to capture some of them to show someone that it really does work!!!! :)

but lots of beautiful bubbles!! It's very cool. At least, until the bubbles stopped.

I guess the wireless thing is waiting until it has more to send them all at once...

that was cool.

It may take my Magna in the two or three block race, but I think I would win in a mile.

19. I'll tell you how I found that and a whole host of other interesting
thingies up to and including the audio on Michael Ruppert. I wanted to find the "scary" flash website to show someone how the face pops up when you least expect it.... sooooooo

I did a google image search and typed in "scary". If you click on the first photo that comes up... it takes you to a directory on the Border Gateway Protocol server or whatever....

If you the go up one directory... you will find a folder named audio... and in that I think there you will find the folder named Art Bell. In that folder the last two links are the Michael Ruppert speeches at a University that will blow you completely away if you are into global politics.... the CIA, drug trade, Afghanistan, etc.

Just thought I would clear that up cuz... some people are paranoid... they look at links and wonder if I should or if it is bogus... well they are not.. this is just something that happened and I have been tapping a bit of this and a bit of that off it... funny that the directory structure is in your face like that... doesn't seem right.. counld be that some people don't know how to set up their Apache server correctly... could be an Apache security bug that hasn't been patched by this particular person as of yet.... anyhoo, glad you liked the vid... some people have way too much time!!! "And money".

20. Nah, you know what happens? They re-name their homepage
and forget to put it back up, or put it in the wrong directory or something... used to see that a lot more.

That, or they just don't care about the homepage and it is just a linking server, it could be that too.

I will check it out, thanks.

Did you find the creepy pic? I think I have it if you did not.

4. Don't ya love it!
Our wireless is currently out service because one of my sons dropped the laptop and everything is OK except for the wireless card. Accidents happen but what a shitty accident! Now I am desk bound...

10. I've desperately wanted it
My previous apartment, I had ethernet cable sstrung into every room with hubs and stuff, which worked fine because the layout of the apartment allowed it.

This apartment is laid out funny, and there are no good areas to run cable, and I like to use the laptop all over. So I've desperately needed wireless.

Thank God I have it!!

23. I brought a new laptop yesterday
along with a broadband router. I can't get it to work. Hell, I can't even get the broadband to work on the new laptop WITH the wire, so forget about going wireless. I also have two printers I need to have hooked up to both my computers. Here are my options: pay someone $199 from the store to come do it for me, or hope that my company's computer guy will come fix it for me (I work at home). I'm leaning towards the former because I've been on the "fix" list now for going on three months to have my PowerPoint fixed and it doesn't seem like that I'm a high priority for him (out of sight, out of mind, I guess). Anyway, congrats on getting your wireless to work. Do you want to come over and fix mine now????

24. Strange. You should be able, almost, to just plug and play
I assume the laptop came with an ethernet port, and that's why you're using to connect to the router?

You might have to configure your router, though - that could be the problem, that it isn't talking with the DSL or cable (whatever you have).

What kind of router is it? What kind of broadband do you have?

Also - are you sure that your broadband provider is actually providing broadband? (always good to ask these questions, no matter how dumb they might sound - if you just ordered broadband, it might be a week or so before it's actually working).

And, of course, the ultimate in dumb questions, but I have to ask it anyway - you did sign up for broadband service, right?
