It was OK. Worth the price of admission. It was really, really sadistic. I think that's why it's getting mixed reviews. I mean really sadistic. You don't have to be sadistic to enjoy it. You just have to have an open mind about sadism, if you follow me.

1. Ebert and Roeper eviscerated it on their show last week. |
|
Slammed it big time. For the reasons you mentioned.

you're right it was more sadistic than being a horror movie. But what do you think the underlying moral message is? Life is precious and don't waste it away? Also the ending was nicely done.

Same message as, oh say Army of Darkness. Here's a goofy movie to watch for an hour and a half, you cult film fans enjoy.

4. As sadistic as Audition? |
|
That's sort of my gold standard in disturbingly violent films.

6. I heard more people... |

...laughing during SAW than at some comedies.
It was a good idea wasted with AWFUL acting and dialogue.

7. For nasty, sadistic evil, read Mark Nykanen...The Bone Parade... |
|
I finished it today, and its not quite the level of Thomas Harris but very close. Nykanem's killer could give Hannibal Lector a serious run for his money...
If you're into reading (sorry, no movie yet)
