To the freep who put the Larry McMurtry book in front of Al Franken's book
at the SuperTarget in Durham, NC: I moved it out of the front of Franken's book and put it in front of Sean Hannity's Moronic Book.

So bite me, asshole.

(Just sayin'.)

2. I don't know how it happens but
every single time I'm in Target, Hannity & O'Reilly books seem to end up covered by Michael Moore & Al Franken's books. . . .I can't imagine how that happens.

4. It was *so obvious* that a freeper-type had put a bunch of
Larry McMurtry books in front of Al Franken's book. Just when I wasn't thinking about how much I despise them, then *BLAM*, there are those books obviously moved to obscure Franken's book.

:grrrrr:

10. Heh, me, too, using liberal authors' books to cover right wingers' all the
time! Wonder if the bookstore employees notice.

3. That reminds me . . . to the dolt that used copies of Unfit for Command
to cover up all the copies of My Life, Unfit Commander, and both of Moore's new books on the book table at Costco, kiss my white hairy ass, your petty bullshit simply proves your ignorance and dishonesty.

5. Not entirely sure reading a McMurtry book would make a ...
RepubliBorg feel any better. McMurtry's fairly populist, and there's lots of that stuff they like to call 'moral relativism' in his stuff. That might be almost as bad as just reading Franken, for most of them!

6. Most Freepers read "Lonesome Dove" and long for that world
Even though it was a bloody, dangerous and chaotic one...

The irony is that McMurty was not trying to glorify the cowboy life with that book but to show how vicious it was...

17. Hell, yeah -- even the TV miniseries couldn't gloss over that.
It was the motivations of the characters that really counted.

9. And Gus is practically a socialist anyway.
No need to look up quotes but he's a pre-20th century Lefty.

18. You're right -- and most of McMurtry's main characters ...
are, though somewhat self-involved, basically kind to others, including the characters in Lonesome Dove.

11. McMurtry is a lefty
He defended Clinton's memoirs in a review when just about everyone else scuttled it. You can get the gist of his politics from the review.

19. You could barely read his books and not know that.
One of my favorites is one that's very hard to find -- ever read 'Cadillac Jack?' I think that was the second one of his I read. Great book, even though his technique improved later on. The main character was one of my favorites he ever created.

12. Put the jackets of the conservative books on the liberal
books.

Most freepers are so stupid, they would get halfway through one of Franken or Moore's books before they caught on.

20. That's okay, I 86'd "FahrenHYPE 911" at Best Buy
I walked in the store the week that F911 came out on DVD. EVERYWHERE there were F911 discs on display, someone had dropped a copy of "FahrenHYPE 911" next to it like a freshly laid turd.

I scanned through the store, locating each copy and creatively locating it where it would not be found until the next inventory.

21. Not saying you SHOULD do this, but...
What if you took one of Hannity's (or Coulter's, O'Reilly's, etc.) books and "accidentally" reshelved it in a part of the bookstore (or book department) that gets virtually no traffic or where it'll get a good laugh?

My only hesitation in making this a regular habit is that I'd hate to cause more work for those nice people who work at the bookstore.
