First off the lousy Yale Med school punk that gets the dance instructer pregnant and says "Some people just don't matter" also pushes a copy of "The Fountainhead" to Baby. Hah! The cult of selfishness rules!

Plus lots of other nasty Boss type themes.

A VERY cool bad movie.

1. HAHA,
we just got done watching it, too. It's one of the few movies I actually will watch more than once or twice. I don't even know why it's fun to watch, except I don't mind the topless Patrick one bit! OK, the dancing is pretty sexy, too!

5. A Good Movie in the same vein....
"Strictly Ballroom" sort of a G-rated Dirty Dancing, Baz Luhrman's (Romeo+Juliet, Moulin Rouge) first American cross-over. Tongue-in-cheek Ugly Duckling tale, with incredible dance scenes (Paul Mercurio, hot male lead, professional dancer)

"A life lived in fear is a life half-lived."

7. Good observation. Got me thinking. For me, Carwash is a good
contemporary film and a good populist film.

8. There was an old social class-oriented film with Barbara Stanwyck
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 11:41 PM by notmyprez
playing a tea dancer (a woman working at a dime-a-dance place). Some drunk, obnoxious preppie who she was dancing with asked her to his private school's big dance. Of course, he later forgot all about it but she didn't, and she showed up at his school for the dance. A lot of social class stuff in the film, which I think old movies were more likely to do. Sorry, I can't remember the title and I'm too tired and close to bedtime to look it up right now. If I remember tomorrow, I will, unless of course someone here knows the movie.

11. There was another "B" type movie made
in the early eighties or late seventies called "Liar's Moon" about illegal abortion that was pretty horrifying. I think the girl died in the end too...very melodramatic.

12. I watched it last night, too.
I think it's a good movie. It makes many points for social and economic justice.
