I miss the "nuthouse" movie genre. |

Seems like institutionalized depression and psychosis doesn't make it to the gray screen anymore. What's up with that?
Remember "David and Lisa"? He went around trying to chop peoples' heads off with the hands of a giant clock. The only thing she was capable of saying was "The Name Game." Lisa, Lisa, fo Fisa...
Then they fell in love. Sigh...

pretty much did in the inpatient genre. Over time, psychiatry also lost its gloss as a profession having a window into the innner workings of the "creative but tormented" soul.
Even "Girl, Interrupted" was a retro-1960s story.
Others in this genre that come to mind are "Lillith," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," and "Shock Corridor," one of the best of the bunch.
