1. If I don't laugh, I'll cry.
I'm trying to keep my spirits up in spite of it all. Heck, we down here in TX know how to live under Republican administrations, eh?

12. Laughter always shines brightest on the hypocrisy of the world.
Wow, does that sounds preachy or what? "Keep smiling it makes other wonder what you are up to." I like that one.

14. I only eat organic whole wheat, no big labels for me.
I also prefer nonfat, organic milk on my cereal. Thank you very much for the suggestion for an alternative liquid. I am going to pass.

11. I heard a program on the radio about 2 weeks before the
election and came in almost at the end. The 2 guys were talking about a book called and this is a guess, "The Impossible Takes a Little Bit Longer" and in that discussion they spoke about how many ideas and rights came about a tiny little bit at a time and that many who worked during their life time to make those changes never saw the end results but that future generations did. they spoke about the abolitionists and the suffragists, Gandhi, and many others. what they did came to fruition but often not in their lifetime. And so it is for many of us. We will continue to fight and to live and laugh and we will in the end make right. Off the soapbox now.

4. What does that mean?
Of all the ways for the world to go to hell, why would it be in something as dainty and as unthreatening as a handbasket?

8. I think it means that the evil one is doing is clever and GOPish
but is still wrong and will still be judged as such.

6. What's your point?
Should I dye my hair black, stay out of the sun, and start listening to (ugh) Morrissey?

They've stolen plenty, but they won't steal my need to goof off on occassion. If I was angry ALL the time, I'd off myself.

9. My point is continue with the screwy, funny ways that keep us
sane. Not judgmental, but congratulatory (is that a word?)

13. Ah.
I misread that, I suppose. There are a few in GD:Whatever who think that having a sense of humor in difficult times is a character flaw of some sort. I don't care if stormtroopers are breaking down my door - I'll still laugh at a guy getting hit in the nuts with a football.

16. Well, I think a sense of humor is the ONLY thing keeping us
from crossing over the edge. I meant to compliment and thought I had done so but maybe my comment was seen as sarcastic.

7. I say that a lot, too.
My daughter noticed, about the middle of the Clinton years, that I had stopped saying it.

I am using that expression again.

10. So where are you from and where does that expression come
from? I sure wish I could here my liberal, feminist mom say it now.

15. Are hand baskets evil?
My mom, who was from Pittsburgh, used to say that also, and I live in Atlanta now and not many people down here have heard of that saying.

Someone pray for the poor lost hand baskets....j/k
