What are you doing to keep your sanity after the election????
I have sworn off all bullshit media, no CNN, MSNBC, network news, etc. I get my news online and listen to Air America constantly. I feel better, not good, but better. And oh yeah, I am drinking to forget, but when I wake up the election results are still the same.

5. this should explain it all:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York officials have been left red-faced after they discovered that clothing ads on city buses that appeared to promote reading suggested a love of books could be rewarded with oral sex.

The advertisements that ran on about 200 buses across the city in recent months carried posters displaying a suggestively posed woman in hot pants kneeling among a pile of books beside the snappy slogan "Read Books, Get Brain."

What unhip, unsuspecting local transportation officials did not know was that "get brain" is street slang for oral sex.

4. Don Knotts Film Festival!!!!!!!
Try it! It works! Here are the titles you want for the festival:

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken

The Reluctant Astronaut

The Shakiest Gun in the West

The Love God?

If you're feeling especially ambitious/desperate, you can add The Incredible Mr. Limpet.

15. These sources are worth listening to to keep your sanity
Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 02:30 AM by jmatthan
BBC World Service for international news and comment and the following internet radio shows in order of entertainment value and sane and sensible talk.

1. Mike Malloy
2. Thom Hartman
3. Guy James
4. Peter Werbe
5. Mike Webb or Bernie Ward (clashing times)
6. Nate Clay
7. Ray Tallifarno
8. Mark Levine
9. The Young Turks
10. Randi Rhodes

The first EIGHT are absolutely great and professional TALK SHOW HOSTS.

If you still need more you can spend some time listening to Al Franken, Unfiltered, The Majority Report, but these are not as interesting as the ones mentioned earlier. The reason I am not an ardent listened to these three PROGRAMMES is that the hosts have rather sharp laughs or repeated cackles, laugh loudly at their own jokes and seem to always wanting to be the centre of attraction, interrupting their guests when interviewing them. (Sorry I have not mentioned Laura Flanders but I have not listened to her often.)

Although Randi is also much like this she does have numerous callers and she gets the right balance. I would put her in the Super Great category for FACTS and also the fact she gets to the heart of the matter when handling callers, but she has much to learn from the real professionals.

If you miss any of the big ones you can get to them via the wonderful archives at whiterosesociety.org and replays at radiopower.org.

I read Unlimited Guardian, Today in Iraq, AlJazeera English, BuzzFlash, Truthout, blogs Eschaton, Baghdad Burning, David Corn, Greg Palast, Common Dreams, to name some.

But above all I spend time reading the DU forums where I get much of the breaking news and some great ideas!!

Stay in the loop and you will get your information, keep generating new ideas, help out people (like Bev Harris) who are working hard to keep matters moving in the interests of world peace - despite every effort of the Chimp and his crew to destabilise the world to keep their agenda moving.

Of course, having a couple of grandkids also helps. :-)

16. B5 and TDS
The Daily show reminds me that I'm not he only one who thinks the Emperor has no clothes, and Babylon 5 had the long dark story arc of the fascists slowly taking over and the fight against them...

18. Leaving the country for 5 or 6 months
I need to hear what people in the rest of the world say about Americans and what their concerns are.

Also there are warmer places in the world during our northern winters.

Find a garden to dig up and plant.

19. Caffeine, nicotine, and literature.
Lots of iced Earl Grey, Dunhills, and a stack of books. I don't need to avoid media, since I neither watch television nor listen to commercial radio, and haven't for years.
