My vet is some piece of work. The medicine he's been prescribing
my dog for months at about 10. a tiny bottle, that I can only get from him, has been discontinued and he just said, no biggie, give her Robatussen DM. Sometimes I hate vets.

1. maybe try another vet if you can?
any homeopathic vets around you?

I usually trust vets, but when they start prescribing harsh treatments for pets, I go elsewhere.

4. I have been researching and found a good holstic one one. Have
to save some bucks and make a 3 hr trip. Always get confused between homeopathic and holistic. Plus some do acupuncture, some are into tinctures. It's a maze. My dog has one of those pushed in faces so she's always breathed funny. She's putting along. Thanks. I find DU is a geat place to bounce medical and pc problems!

7. there are vets here or at least one but I don't remember their
name(s). I would get another vet ASAP. I just had a cat with a rabies severe adverse reaction last week and last year I had a cat die from vaccine reaction. Please read the vet school sites; 60 % OF VET SCHOOLS across the country are now recommending the animals not get all of the vaccines unless there is an exposure and on a much less frequent basis. If you are having trouble finding this info, check U. of IL veterinary school, Cornell Veterinary School, U. of PA., etc. and other vet school sites. Many vets are in this for the money-making and they are hyper-vaccinating and over-medicating animals. Also look at googling canine adverse drug reactions. Do a complaint on the vet on the State licensing board too. I am getting very activist on this stuff. Many vets are getting away with murder, soaking their clients, making the pets sick, etc.

2. Find a new vet, and tell the old one why you're doing so.
My oldest dog needs a presciption medication that was yanked by FDA a few years back (cisapride). My vet told me the only place she knew I could get it was a pharmacy downtown that did custom orders and packed their own capsules. They were damned expensive. My uncle in AZ, who's also a vet, told me about a mail-order pharmacy in NJ that specializes in veterinary prescriptions AND discontinued (read: no longer profitable) drugs. I now get 300 capsules shipped to my door for half what I paid for a month's supply that first time. And I told my vet, and she's since told dozens of her clients who have pets that need cisapride about this mail-order pharmacy, and everyone's happy. Point buried in there somewhere is that yer vet shouldn't rip you off. Find a new one.

3. I may not know everything... but I know a little... can you tell us what
is wrong with your dog? You might be surprised as some of the help you may get right here.... I mean, there may be some vets lurking here...

Anything I would have to offer would be in the way of resources online that may or may not help, but I don't think they could hurt...

6. 13 year old shitzu has weak lungs, very slightly, collapsed trachea, very
very early stages of Cushings, for which the vet recommended no treatment because it would compromise her marginalized breathing. She sleeps a lot more than she used to. She has no outward signs of Cusings except maybe she sleeps alot which is a sign of old age as well. Her appetite is fine -- as you may know, one Cushings symptoms is excessive appetite. She's had blood panels, and ultrasounds. I currently give her a broncial liquid with a syringe 3x a day. She gets doggy vitamin C. She is peppy and alert when she is awake. She is prone to a coughing spell about 2x a day, usually when she is lying down for a long time. That's about it, thanks for asking.

11. I know how this sort of product works... I used to network for a company
that produces a similar product. I understand the science behind it. I know it comes from a group of people whom I consider modern day medical "prophets". At least read the science... I have no doubt that these materials could vastly improve the wellness state of your dog by enhancing and balancing his/her immune system.... same thing applies in humans. To read some of the science behind a product that does similar things for humans, a product that generally has a positive effect on many many concerns... you can read some at www.glycoscience.com

14. Believe it or not... the first link... refers to a company out of Texas
that produces of all things... "sugars" that are involved with glycoprotein synthesis. They have seen things heal that defy explanation... and here is where I am going to go down in flames... including blindness due to diabetes.

If you want to learn more, you can read Sugars That Heal by Emil Mondoa M.D.

If you need a real life example you can check this survival story.... good luck with your pooch...

5. Small Animal Vets are crooks
Being a farmer, , and having to call vets sometimes, I am always shocked to hear of the prices charged for meds by the vets. Small animal vets are shysters. Not all are tho, I have to take my dog in for rabies shots, the law in Ca.I go to a vet that charges only $7. , and for heartworm, I get Ivermectin from overseas, a pill.I have saved much by procuring the meds myself, and shopping, asking prices.Small animal vet work costs as much , or more than a M.D.This is ridiculous.

10. tell me. I think I spent 10,000 bucks last year on my one cat from
an adverse vaccine reaction. He died at age 8. Those bastards should have been paying me. But they had new jaguars every year recommending their harmful, useless shots. My cats were hyper-vaccinated and they get no more shots. These bastards should have their licenses revoked.
