Any 7th Heaven Fans in the audience?
I have the honor of being able to say that I have never actually watched an entire episode of the show. But tonight, my partner was watching the season premiere, and I watched part of it with him. Now I don't want to offend anyone here, but was this a particularly poorly acted, poorly written episode? I can't possibly imagine that if this were a typical episode, how it could be entering it's eighth season. Anyone want to argue its merits?

is or was,she fell asleep, so i `m watching cause i`m to lazy to get the remote. actually it`s not really that bad,at least there is no cheap assed sexual overtones. i think they try to touch on problems with out trying to trivaize or sexualize them. otherwise it`s strictly g rated and g rated solutions for problems.and strangly enough i think there are people like them in the world....oh yes it wasn`t a very good show tonight.

2. I haven't seen it in a couple of years, but...
I was once hooked on middle-of-the night reruns due to insomnia and marijuana. It is fascinatingly awful. It doesn't even have the hollow professional slickness that one usually associates with a Spelling production. I had watched 3-4 episodes before I even realised that the dad was supposed to be a minister. His character is so lacking in passion that he makes a Unitarian seem...well...pushy. The actor (I'm sorry, can't remember his name) is a very committed Dem activist, but he is a really terrible performer.

BTW, I got hooked on the show watching reruns on the Family Channel. But tonight's season premiere wasn't too good, I agree.

3. I absolutely HATE that show!!!
My main reason?

Well, I was a preacher's kid and let me tell you we didn't have a fricken' palace to live in like that family!!!
Most churches can barely afford to pay their pastors a living wage. In fact, we were so poor that for 3 years we had to live in the church basement!!! Never had new clothes, didn't have color tv til I was in college, no second car, etc, etc.
I don't know how large their church is supposed to be, but their lifestyle is really extravagent!!! They are living like frigging KINGS.
And with all those kids?
My parents had 3, and they could barely afford them!

6. A Used to be fan
At one time, I thought it was the best show on the air. It's been past it's peak for about the last 2-3 years. I think it's time for them to really consider calling it quits.

7. I've never watched it, but
I may watch it next month. One of my students from last year is going to be on for a very small part. I don't know exactly when yet. He stopped by to talk to me today and ask me to watch him. He will also apparently be seen somewhere on "Scrubs" the first week of October. I have no idea what Scrubs is either.

18. Scrubs is great.
On NBC on Thursday nights. It's about doctors on their residency. It is pretty irreverant and funny. Good for some mindless entertainment.

8. And what's up with the mother, Annie?
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 09:58 PM by Dissenting_Prole
Every episode it seems like she's grounding somebody.

"Simon, you're grounded for two weeks!"

"Ruthie, three days!! Go to your room."

"Eric, no sermons for three sundays, understand?"

"Happy, go to the doghouse! Now!"

Whatta bitch.

17. How about Lucy?
That girl is a whiny snot.

"When are you going to ask me to marry you?"

" You can't ask me to marry you like that! It has to be special!"

" Can you leave, honey? I really need to be alone right now."

9. Oh, I LOVE that show.

It has passed it's peak since the oldest daughter moved out. I like to watch the show and fatasize about corrupting the older two daughters (Ruthie is too young, give her a few years) in a pre-marital sex romp! oohhh, so tasty! Since the characters are pastor's daughters I am inclined to believe that they are FREEEEEAKS! The fact that this show is supposed to be family oriented gives me even more satisfaction in my sick lecherous fantasies. Just watching the pent-up lust of the older daughters is a delicious experience. I'll probably be flamed for this post, but I find 7th Heaven one of the most enjoyable programs on TV. It and Monday night football really help me cope with the horror that is Monday.

On edit: The wife ain't too bad either. It would be especially funny if reverend Camden were to catch us in the act and have one of his heart attacks.

14. Exactly
I knew one girl in high school who was a pastor's daughter and she was always getting it on with someone.
I don't have a problem with it. I just hate religious hipocrits.

16. For the Pastor's kid bad behavior has a double payoff
It is not only gratifying in itself, but also has the gratification of rebellion.

Kids of preachers that I've known have usually either been saints or wanton sinners. Almost always lots of fun either way.

they're almost metallic. Do they use some kind of special effect to get them to look that way?

13. My daughter loves it
She's 11 and I'd rather have her watch that then American Idol type shows. I don't mind it usually since the dad isn't a fundie type of minister.
