8. The finding out that a beloved cousin is a rabid, bumper stickered freep
of nature at my Mom's birthday party...the shutting out of our gay/lesbian friends and neighbors. Reading about Freeps wanting to wear "W" armbands as if we are the Fourth Reich...it goes on. Most of all, looking at my kids and thinking that I failed them.

That and MrG stomping off to visit his brother without me. I won't go because my stupid BIL in the house that he can't afford, voted for The Reverend Retardo. :(

15. OMFG! "W" Armbands???
NO FUCKING WAY, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! Jesus H. Christ, what is this, 1930's Germany? Never mind, don't answer that.........

And, as a Christian, my understanding is that we are not to worship any man like a God and that we are cautioned to be "aware of false prophets!"

10. I need those! My daughter, a non affection showing 14 year old, has
been hugging on me all week. She has not been this way since I had a miscarriage when she was seven and she gave me a homemade Valentine which read...Please don't cry Momma. She makes me cry all the more because I feel as if I have failed to secure her future.

Thanks for the hugs.

17. YOU DIDN'T FAIL YOUR KIDS
STOP IT!

That is why I divorced myself from all this... your kids will grow up to be strong, independent, critical thinkers - who will know how to fend for themselves in this unforgiving fascist land. Armed with reason, compassion, and a will to persevere, they will be FINE.

Don't hang your kids' future on the purchased outcome of a fixed system rigged against us. As long as they are their own person, you will have succeeded beyond your wildest dreams.

Stay involved locally, and help your kids just be the best people that they can be. They'll be ready to fight the Jenna Bush administration one day.

25. My daughter did such an admirable job of keeping composure in the
face of the freeper kids in her school. I just worry what lies ahead in the next four years.

Zomby, I really really needed those words right now! Thanks.

4. It does, doesn't it?
Even the Lounge doesn't lift me up and that's something. I can't bear to go to the serious forums yet - every once in a while I click in but dash off with my tail between my legs because it's a) too rancorous over there and b) I'm just not up to it.

12. I just "see" all these people that I've known in good times and I feel
horrendously bad for them. I tried to do the GD thing, I post on and off, but it's just too topsy turvy and upsetting to hear what is coming out of some of the people I have admired greatly's mouths. :(

16. I've still got yours as well. It's just a sick feeling that grows and
grows. I got a dumb "under God" email a bit ago and just lashed out in a reply all to all those phony Christians...Grrrr.

Thanks so much, I feel better just being here...In the land of the Internet. :hi:  :loveya:

18. I love you too, bigwillq. Today, DU is what I've got going for me.
No Packers. :( No President. No Pumpkin seeds...because I ate them all last night.

So all I've got is pity...the self inflicted kind. I'll be back happy though. Today is just a crappy day.

You're the best!

But we have each other and the thousands of other DUers who are in the same situation as us.

We must count on each other to help lift our spirits.

I'll have to try and catch it myself. I swear it's like living in some sci fi alternate universe.

13. We love you
too, Laura! And don't give up, either. Keep on fighting, keep on working, just keep on. I have several repub friends and family members who either didn't vote at all (they can't stand Bush and say he's not a "true" repub, but they couldn't bring themselves to vote for Kerry either), or they voted for Kerry.

A few of them held their noses and voted for Bush, but they weren't thrilled about it, either. They say that true repub, conservative values are being hijacked by the neocons and the religious right wing of the party, and they resent it. And they're certainly not alone, from what I'm seeing and hearing. Yes, he got a higher percentage of the popular vote than any other prez. But the fact that the win margin was just three percent, and that 48% of the people voted AGAINST Bush, the highest margin ever to vote against an incumbent prez, and that there are many in his own party who see him for what he really is and are afraid of what he's doing to the party (watch for some serious infighting soon, folks!) is NOT A MANDATE and it gives me hope, also.

The one thing that pisses me off the most is that repukes are throwing the words "mandate" and "decisive" or "overwhelming" victory around, when it was no such thing. It was not a landslide, by any measure of the word. And the fact that a wartime president had 48% of the vote AGAINST him (and that has never happened either) should tell them something right there. But of course, it won't. They, like their Great Leader, have nothing but contempt and disdain for anyone who doesn't toe their line 100%, including within their own party. They do not consider those who voted against them to even be true Americans, and they don't have to listen to them. And that's going to cause major, major problems very soon.

22. They've really made me overwhelmingly sick since the moment they
said they were giving "Kerry time to come to terms with it" and how long they would "allow Kerry to go before demanding a concession speech (NPR).

Then my cousin saying at the birthday party which was mostly Dems, "You know I'm really having a hard time keeping my mouth shut." My thought? "Let her rip, so we can all see what a giant ass you are." I didn't say it. But my father (her Godfather) said,"Your jerk won...you should have an easy time of it."

Thanks so much LH. I thought I was getting better with it...seems like I am not.
