What can I say but, WOW! What an incredible film. Yes, in typical Hollywood fashion, RAY simplifies a complicated story, but I really didn't care. (In his 1978 autobiography, Charles only briefly mentioned the drowning death of his brother George. So I very much doubt the event damaged Ray's psyche nearly as much as the film would have us believe.)
Jamie Foxx didn't just *play* Ray Charles; he became the man! I kept forgetting that I was merely watching an actor portraying The Genius in a biopic. So intense is Foxx's performance, the producers felt confident in making the final scene a montage of photos and film clips of the real-life Ray Charles. If Jamie Foxx doesn't receive a "Best Actor" nomination, then I'll know full well that there's no justice in Tinseltown.
Whether or not you're a big Ray Charles fan, do yourself a favor and see his biopic. RAY is not just a great music film; it's a great film, period.
Just my two cents, y'all!
