Extreme Makeover Home Edition |

Man what a great show and concept!!
I am jerkin' a tear over here. It is so incredibly nice and heartwarming to see people who really REALLY deserve it finally catch a break. It really is.
(I wish they had a 'happy tears' emoticon)

4. tonight's show was particularly good . . . |
|
two parents, both deaf, raising two sons, the younger of whom is both blind and autistic . . . and his older brother (14) is the most amazing young man I've encountered in a long time . . . totally devoted to his family and to his kid brother . . . it was great that the show gave him a college scholarship as part of the makeover . . .

5. why does every episode have to have a gimmick? |
|
Someone is deaf, someone allergic to light, an immune deficiency disease, blah blah blah.. Can't they find any regular poor people who need a home? Or are only those with a hook for ratings worth the effort?

9. No, it's not for ratings. That's one of the criterias to be on the show. |
|
Your family (or whomever you nominate) has to DESERVE the home makeover. I'm guessing they have to make sure a rich person or someone who doesn't need the help doesn't get it, they wouldn't deserve it as much. So yeah, it's not for ratings, I think they're genuinely trying to help people out.

12. It's nice to be able to feel good in real life about something nice |
|
happening to good people who can use a leg up.
It's really nice to have something like this on teevee to make up in small part for all the mind pollution and garbage that runs the rest of the time, 24/7 non-stop on 200 other channels.
We should make sure our kids watch this to see what it's like to do nice things for people.
Then we should go out and something nice for people too.

8. After last week, I needed to see something good happen like that |
|
That was a great show.
My wife and I actually almost bought a house on the same block as that place last year.
