The Bach Sonatas for Violin
are almost enough to make one forget the hopelessness of the human situation here in our backward, ignorant, self-destructive nation.
Almost.

2. Amen.
In fact, anything by Bach. He wrote everything to SDG, and the Spirit of God's Love permeates throughout.

Love is stronger than hate, dear friends, and music and faith stronger than fear.

7. BTW
The first movement of that Concerto is perhaps the most extraordinary music ever written (my opinion of course).

But I have to say, I'm partial to the Third Concerto (Opus 30)in terms of the ambition and architecture.

9. I like to listen to Bach on Sunday evenings.
Helps me relax before the work week begins.

I wish people would just turn off their televisions. Most damnable device ever contrived by mankind.

15. Agreed. My TV is off except for Simpsons and the Daily Show.
I like the Brandenburgs for the same reason.

11. I need a tear jerker
Tried listening to Barber's Adagio for Strings repeatedly but it's not making the tears come. It's been a rough week and I really need a good cry.

12. Try the Mozart Requiem.
The most sublime music ever written IMHO. That should get the tear ducts functioning.

16. His Ave Verum Corpus does that for me.
And the Kyrie Eleison and Laudamus Te from the Mass in C.

13. "Over the Rainbow"
Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 11:38 PM by PSU84
Always does it for me.... especially the original Judy Garland recording.

If it has to be classical try the Albinoni adagio (Baroque, actually, but so what.)
