I want to share a somewhat scary thought

Years ago I sat on my front porch reading a book called "The illuminati" by Larry Burkett (who has now passed on).

The base idea was that those in power were out to destroy the christians and they did this by framing them for things, taking control of money and the usual type things.

Now I bring this up because one of the things I seem to recall was that a group of terroristic christians killed a number of supreme court justices, ambushed them (well they didn't, but the government said they did it and people believed them).

I wonder about parallels in that book and today's world. Strip away the religious side if you want, cool with me, but the core operations used seemed pretty slick (for it's day).

The president (and my recollections are shaky after so many years) was not the man pulling the strings, he was used but still part of it on a smaller scale. He was a dupe. Things were not in his hands (but he wished they were I imagine).

The book is pretty anti-liberal, but strip away the base labels and one can ponder easily how scenarios like 'terrorists attack supreme court', 'terrorists can too easily print money, take this chip/card and hand over the cash, we won't track you or block your money when you vote against us - we promise!' and so on.

As a christian myself I can see this occuring from many fronts (and I favor keeping religion out of government myself, Jesus did not send his followers out to change the laws of rome but to change the hearts of men).

So what things can you envision the current government doing to bring more power to themselves in such a way that people want that to happen and rally behind them?
