2. I have that CD, but I like Acadie and For the Beauty of Winona better. |
|
That being said, I love all his stuff, including his work as a producer for U2, Nevill Bros, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, etc.

3. I lived down the street from him for years |

After his success with U2 he bought the Germaine Wells mansion on Esplanade in New Orleans. My address was 1234 Esplanade, so he was about 3 blocks down towards the river. Used to run into him all the time - very nice guy. Very homely, too, in real life.
Acadie is my favorite of his solo works. I carried it around with me for ages waiting to run into him so he could autograph it. When I finally did he was more embarassed about it than I was.
Germaine Wells was also something of a local legend. She was an elderly lady who would have a yearly Easter parade through the Quarter to the cathedral in Jackson Square. We'd all stand out in front her mansion and applaud when she took to her horse drawn carriage with her flock of faded Southern beauties. Such a Tenessee Williams moment. Sadly, on the last trip before she died, she had switched to limos and it wasn't the same.
