We had a most excellent Chicago DU meetup last night. |
|
I had such a great time last night. Good people, good conversations, good drink (of which I liberally enjoyed).
Thanks, guys, for the meetup. It really helped me get over the horrible week (that election thing).

4. Sounds Like A Good Time Was Had By All... |
|
I just hope you behaved yourself and that you didn't embarrass everyone by getting too drunk and singing the karaoke version of "I Am What I Am"... in your underwear... standing on the bar (like that one time we all heard about yet you claim not to remember...as if!) :hi:

8. I'm more tired today than anything. |
|
I'm not hungover...even though I did overdo it on the Guinness's.
Yes, I agree...too many absentees! Hopefully, that won't be a problem at the next meetup.

15. You mean from the CPD Red Squad? |
|
Yep, he was there. Just kidding about the Red Squad, but after he realized we weren't anarchists or subversives, and after many attempts to include him in conversations, he just kinda slid out the door without saying goodbye, or thank you, or nice to meet ya...
Maybe he saw that we were no threat to the US of A?

I'll have to give him a buzz tonight and get the scoop. He might have felt out of place since he doesn't post on DU.

I love Celtic Crossing. If there's a better place for draught Guinness, it's probably in Ireland someplace.
In any case, CC still has the best singing barkeep on the planet. He was great during the session. Brought a tear to me eye and made me laugh, all in the span of 5 minutes.
And it was wonderful seeing everyone, even though I got chiburb's real name wrong. I have a feeling I'll be paying for that for quite sometime.

To be 100% honest, you guys make me feel great about my upcoming move to the area. Last night was a blast!
Thanks to:
Chiburb: for buying me a beer. terrya: for showing up and being....well....Terry. Mkuhl and susang: for being great friends and hipping me to a great restaurant. antiwarwarrior: for being a familiar friendly face. Happy Birthday, m'man! (on Thursday) greatauntoftriplets: sorry I didn't spend more time with you. prolesunited: for driving my sorry ass home. (and for putting up with me) XNASA: for debuting his new "godfather stance". eyesroll: for driving so far to see us. NSMA: for calling on the cell phone, and being there in spirit. I did a shot for you. forradalom: Nice to finally meet you! ProfessorGAC: for staying home. (BURN!) Lurking bass player boy: Hope the date went well (she's very cute!) Hopefully Skinner will reinstate new signups, so that you won't need to lurk anymore. bif's friend: for showing up. Next time, make sure to say "bye" to everyone before buggering off. Don't be shy. mysterious guy in the parking lot: for giving us your parking receipt as you were pulling out. Saved us 10 bucks.
Who did I forget.....? Probably SOMEbody, and I apologize if I did.
I understand that I made a drunken promise to sing Carrickfergus when we next meet at CC, and I plan to deliver. Bring rotten fruit.

NO one can compare to Van Morrison, especially not me. I just like the song and have always wanted to sing it. I suppose I'll have a forgiving audience.
Maybe I'll do "The Drunken Scotsman" instead.
