My husband is going to start pumping |
|
My husband, a Type I Diabetic, is switching over to the insulin pump soon. He's all excited about it and wants me to go to the educational class for it before he starts using it. I'm... well... less hesitant.
I'm happy for him that this might help him to feel more normal. (You should see the looks he gets at restaurants when he gives himself insulin -- you'd think he was a crack whore!) I'm also nervous because I think there is more of a chance for him to drop low while adjusting to the pump.
Are there any pumpers out there? Advice?

Have been on it twice, for a total of about 4 years. LOVE the control it gave me, alas, I had issues with absorbtion after that amount of time. It really was terrific, though. I was on it while I was pregnant, and my HbA1C was 5.9! While pregnant! Good luck to him, and tell him it does take a bit to adjust to, but it's usually worth it! :)

2. My DH has shots but likes to eat up at the corner coffee shop. |
|
After he started to take shots, he asked them if they could accommodate his insulin shots and they said no. So, he goes up there and gets stuff on take-out, brings it home and eats. I think he's nuts for doing that. I wouldn't eat there again and I don't.

3. We have an employee with an insulin meter |
|
She loves it. She has some infection issues at the site, though. Her doc expects that will clear up as her system recovers. She was an out-of-control diabetic for years.
