Is It Right To Publish The Photo Of A Child Pornography Collector |
|
If the collector was only 17 years old himself?
There was a story in Newsday a few days ago about two young men, aged 17 and 18, who were arrested for having child pornography, I believe, stored in their lockers at school.
I can understand them being arrested, I have no problem with that, but to have their photos published in the paper - before they were even convicted, just kinda struck me the wrong way.
Plus one of them was 17. I always assumed there were laws against divulging the names of minors involved in crimes, and most certainly their photos.
Thoughts?

1. Considering this nation is willing to execute minors |
|
I doubt many people would have a problem with making them targets for vigilante violence.

Don't forget, the recent Selection was all about "Moral Values".
So are they going to be subjected to Trial by Fire, or will the usual bind-hands-and-feet-and-throw-in-the-river suffice?

courts 'accidently' releasing the name of a rape victim. Or making it impossible for her to receive justice.

4. My mom served as an alternate on a jury for a trial of a |
|
developmentally Disabled man who was considered an accessory to a murder. In Arizona, you are an accessory if you have knowledge of the crime or were present you are considered an accessory.
The kid (18) had just met his "friends" the night before. Yes, they killed the convenience shop clerk.
DD kid got the death penalty. Mom is 82, and it haunts her still; she neede therapy to recover.
Thinking about it makes me physically ill.
No, the kid should be protected; but now they give the death penalty to 14 year olds.
When did it become a crime to be a child? I thought they deserved our protection.
Think I'll go hug my little boy just because.

6. If they will try him as an adult |
|
then they'll show him off, the media will publish photos and names unless a judges orders them not to. Because legally, he's recognised as an adult. No longer a minor.
