Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 05:19 PM by Walt Starr
So, I have used my real name on this board for nearly four years.

Should I change my name? Give me your opinion!

Change your screen name option at no penalty that Skinner just put in effect:

I can change it from Walt Starr, keep my Gold Star, keep my post count, and nobody knows the new me was Walt Starr after thirty days.

16. okay, I understand all of those DU *perks,* however, that doesn't
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 05:33 PM by TaleWgnDg
answer why you would want to be known by another username other than Walt Starr. Of course, none of this is any of my business. But am merely curious and think that Walt Starr the username is a-okay. S'all.

edited to add: btw, I've had this same username for more than 10 years . . . of course on other places besides DU (DU isn't 10 years old)

17. Well, other than Will Pitt
I'm one of the very few DUers who actually uses his real name. I've read some things about the "names thread" (which I missed, BTW and would really appreciate a link to) and you know how paranoia can go some days.

18. oic . . . okay. that makes good sense. very good sense. but the
final decision, of course, is w/ you. I gotta agree w/ you, ID and kooks out there are a very viable rationale.

And besides, when you run for office you will have name recognition. Very important.

11. LOL, just thought I'd check
I ALMOST went ahead and did it tthen thought, "I've used my real name here for about four years, why would I want to give that up?"

So, thought I'd post a poll. Seems most people think I should keep it.

21. I use this post to unequivocally deny any connection between myself
and Ken (especially), Kay, Ringo, or Bart Starr.

My father's real last name was Szczerbowecz and he changed it while in the Marine Corps.

Just curious because of the 'sz' combination.

27. Yeah, keep it
at least it's easy to pronounce. Prounouncing my "real" Czech last name requires one to dislocate ones septum to get the proper pronunciation down.

That's why I tell everybody to "just call me Dan". :dunce:
