I was just called an " idiot " for voting & still believing in " hope " .
I understand that everyone has their opinions , but I am pretty sick and tired of people older than I am calling me an " idiot " for voting last Tuesday and for believing that a change could come to America . This has nothing to do with the DU btw , this is in the offline world . Naieve because I voted , stupid youngster because I had hope . I replied " Well maybe if you did not give up and stop voting , we would not be going through this BS right now ! " I really hate the " I told you so people . "

1. Cheap cynicism is just that -- cheap.
It's a lot easier to sit around on your ass and bitch about how everything sucks than it is to take a stand, but that doesn't make it right.

3. I hate those kind of people
It's bad enough that we have to put up with the gloating from their side, but to come out and call people "idiots"?? Why does this not surprise me?

4. I have found
that moving the discussion away from the federal stage and talking about how elections affect the state and county gov't to be helpful, FWIW. Good luck...

12. They don't believe in voting at all ...
No matter if its the federal , state or county government . They say its all " enslavement " . Well I said " I see you still pay taxes to your " master " when you get that nice paycheck of yours that government lets you have , don't ya ? " - They had nothing else to say .

15. And that's the right response to that attitude
Man, I'm lucky I grew up in NYC.... I couldn't stand living around folks as you describe.

6. good for you! we gotta start somewhere...the Repubs did this
in 1990 when Clinton won....they have a 14 year start on us. Please don't give up, don't stop voting, don't stop talking, don't stop thinking about tomorrow...we need to get the rest of the country off its' arse.

And I still say that most people who voted for Bush voted for the man, not his policies. And I am hoping that since they bothered to vote, they will pay more attention...and WAKE UP!

7. Wait 'til they say, "You were right. I shoulda voted for Kerry."
Because they will. I don't know how many people said that to me about Gore and Bush. I know they did not vote for Bush this time.

So, hang in there.
We understand.
It always seems to turn when you are in the right.
And when the time comes, you get to decide about your level of compassion.

8. Screw them.
Best response I can come up with: if they ever get drafted, you can give them the very same "I told you so".

9. What is bad for you
is that before they blamed the gay agenda, the blamed the youth for not getting out to vote.

Now that the loss of the presidency is being blamed on the gay agenda, you are now an ignorant youth who could not have done anything anyway. . .it is a step up from being blamed for the failure of the democratic party!

13. That is so true .
I can't speak for anyone else but I went out this year and I did my part as a young voter . I could have stayed on living in Germany and voted via absentee ballot but I came home because I wanted to vote in person and volunteer for Kerry - I did all the above . I did the best that CarolinaPeridot could do . And no , I am not running back to Germany , I am staying Stateside to fight .
