Which satellite radio company?
I've not been keeping up with the discussion because I thought I'd never need it.

Now, I think I do need it

So,which one is better?

1. I've had DirecTV for years and the service has been superb.
But it was owned by Hughes. Is it now owned by Murdoch? The thing is .. that all of the services, pretty much, are owned by right-wingers.

2. Sirius will have Howard Stern
That'd be one reason to go with them.

3. Sirius is a no brainer..
Sirius has two lefty talk channels, and XM doesn't even carry the full AAR lineup.

5. Plus they have the entire NFL package.
HUGE benefit for football fans... It's great to listen to a game with your local broadcast crew when you no longer live in town.

6. I agree Sirius...
You get Howard Stern, AAR, and Radio Left. Just like to add all though they like to advertise 100% commercial free music, it's more like 95% as they like to sneak in a few Sirius ads between songs.... :)

12. That's a done deal then.
Since I'm getting it for AAR, that's all I needed to know.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

4. I just got my XM and I love it!
Mostly for America Left (AAR) and especially the Bob Edwards Show, though the times could be a bit better. It's SOOOOOOOO nice to hear Bob's voice again. Ahhhhhh...

I replaced the stereo in my car with an Alpine with XM built in, it's FANTASTIC!!

I think AAR is on both XM and Sirius. I'd look at the schedule line ups to determine what you want. XM has a ton of garbage and a few good stations, like XMPR (Public Radio) and America Left.

9. I have had sirius for 2 years
and I love it.

XM is pre-built into some model cars, but if you can choose, choose Sirius.

Air America Programming all day (I've heard XM cuts parts of it).
Out Q programming (great political commentator Mike Signorile)
Left Talk has even more liberal chat

Plus the music.

11. I have both
Sirius has the Full Air America line up and
3 Public Radio Channels, they seem to invest more in on air talent on the music channels (e.g, the original MTV VJ's on 80', Tony Hawk, Bam Martuga and other extreme sports guys on Faction Channel, Greg Brady on the 70's station. Eminem on Shade 45, Little Steven programs several channels including Underground Garage...etc).

XM has deeper playlist on the music side, more beautiful music channels (e.g.: A full time New Age music channel, A "Sunny" music channel...)

Both have trial listening for the music channels (I think a 3 day free pass for each) if you want to sample the music.

If I had to only chose one, I'd chose Sirius over XM...but that's mostly because I listen to Talk Radio more than music. Music lovers seems to like XM over Sirius for it's deeper playlists

13. 3 Public radio channels?
Ack! But none of them carry the Bob Edwards show, do they?

I don't like talk radio too much, though it's fun once in a while. I got XM mostly for Bob.

Maybe I'll pick up Sirius too...

14. You're right Bob Edwards is only on XM
Bob Edwards is strictly on XM only which is one of the reasons I subscribe to XM in addition to Sirius

I got my XM tuner free so I didn't have to invest in a second set of equipment.

I like having both services though. I rarely watch the TeeVee. Subscribing to both XM and Sirius is actually cheaper than cable television :)

15. I had Sirius for about a day.
Couldn't make it work.

If I try it again, it'll be XM. Yes, yes, Clear Channel. I know. But it'll also have major league baseball next spring. So I guess I'm a hypocrite...
