Who else has seen Cabin Fever?
I know we have some horror movie fans on here but don't think I've seen a thread/post yet on this one.

I saw it last night and thought it was great. It was like one big homage to late 70's/early 80's horror movies and some of the references were so blatant. But having read an interview with the director it's obvious he loves the genre and is proud to be a horror director. And even though the whole movie was a lot of little things you had seen before, it was put together such that it seemed new and I really didn't know which way it would turn out.

I thought there were some really funny bits in it. The thing with the old redneck and the gun in the beginning and then at the end was super clever.

Was it perfect? Not at all. But I thought it was fairly refreshing for a horror flick.

..which happens frequently with me and movie threads because I tend to seem them either on opening day or many times before they are released.

... I thought it had surprisingly good acting. It was a bit slow.

Better movie than Freddy vs. Jason, but I enjoyed Freddy vs. Jason more.

3. I can see that...it was definitely "better" than F vs. J....
I think I liked this a little more since it was more of a fresh spin on a different type of horror movie rather than just the tried and true slasher flick. My problem with F vs. J was the total implausability of the entire movie. Now I realize that I am saying this about Freddie versus Jason, but still. It stretched even the very wide, extremely broad and maleable boundaries I set for myself going into the movie.

I couldn't see myself bothering to watch Freddie v. Jason again but I would watch Cabin Fever again.

4. I thought it sucked
It wasn't scary to me at all. And the humor was lame and out of place and the last 15 minutes are a complete waste of time.

Nice special effects, or at least makeup, in regards to the flesh-eating wounds though.

5. Hey...to each their own....
I'm a big fan of 70's/80's horror and I thought this hit all the right marks on things that I loved from that era. From the creepy rednecks, to the teens turning on each other, to the rabid animals and the camera techniques.

But I can see how someone might not have liked it. Thats the beauty of art.

6. I mean
I don't get the 70/80s thing at all?

In all of those movies there was a psycho killer or something on the loose.

This was just a bacteria.

And a dog.

And a kid who bites people.

There just wasn't that much there, and I know I wasn't the only one who felt like that after leaving the theater. Pretty much everyone elsehad the same opinion.

Very similar to when I saw 28 Days Later, another film I expected to like, but was disappointed in.

7. Not so much the plot, but the feel of it....
The rednecks, the stupid teenagers, the feelings of isolation. I can see where if you were expecting something that directly aped those movies plot-wise you would have been dissapointed. Just as if you expected a straight out zombie movie from 28 Days you would be dissapointed.

But I've already seen all the movies that paved the way for those genres. I enjoy new twists on old formulas and I thought both movies delivered.

But again, to each their own.
