I just read through the 250+ messages on the Arnold show. www.oprah.com
Not good for Oprah.
95% of them condemned Oprah for pandering to the likes of Arnold and selling out, and stating their extreme disgust about Arnold.
There were literally no more than 15 pro-Arnold, pro-recall messages posted. 5% of the messages were about Beyonce.
'disappointed' and 'disgusted' were the words of the day.
And a lot of posts were made before the show was aired. Just the thought of Oprah pandering to her rich friend and a man who is known for violence, hate and abuse of women and opportunism caused dissention.
Reading the board gave me hope for the American public. The comments were very educated with discussions about Diebold machines, republican take over and stealing elections, Arnold's refusal to answer any questions. I am impressed and hopeful.
Here are some snips:
Billionare Sellout Arnold is not qualified to be govener of California. Is Arnold feeling so desperate he has to ask his wife to have her, long time friend to help him steal an election!!! Why try to hide what is really going on by having both Arnold and Maria do the show together...cut to the chase and have Arnold alone. The coward has to hide behind his wife. It proves how much of a bottom feeder he is. Oprah is acting like the rich Billionare she is. Quick to help her rich friends out with a favor. Never mind the concequences it may have on the regular working class people of California. Rich people and thier hobbies. I see Oprah in a whole new light. I will think twice about watching her show and donating to her Angel Network.
The beautiful people with $$$ Yes Arnold is a fine example of American greed and excess. He drives a gas guzzling Hummer, smokes cigars (cause he's cool), degrades women and Gays, makes violent movies with filthy language and supports a corrupt regime under the direction of Bush. I had the pleasure of assisting Arnold when I worked at Saks Fifth Avenue, and he was not the WARM cuddlie person we see on TV shaking hands and beaming from ear to ear. His wife is a very beautiful women, and I never understood her connection to such excess. But then she is a Princess too. What ever happened to the Catholic ethic of working for the common good? The Rich get Richer, so they MUST support the Republican movement or risk loosing a little of their pile of filthy money. God Bless the People who suffer under their greed.
SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT SCHWARZENEGGER Most troubling about Arnold Schwarzenegger is the documented history of his past statements and behavior toward women which cast serious doubts about his character, and qualification to represent our great state. You are, no doubt, aware of the 1977 Schwarzenegger interview in "Oui" magazine, when he bragged about taking part in a "Gang Bang" in Gold's Gym. He boasted about girls backstage giving head at bodybuilding contests. In a 1988 "Playboy" magazine interview, Schwarzenegger said he does not like to see women wearing slacks. (This is the man who would like us to believe he supports a woman's right to choose). An article in "Premier" magazine (March 2001) said that the actor had groped women on movie lots and during interviews. An article in "Entertainment Weekly" this past July quoted Schwarzenegger discussing his new movie, "Terminator 2", which he said he enjoyed because "How many times do you get away with taking a woman and burying her face in a toilet bowl?" These and too many additional comments about Schwarzenegger clearly establish a long and continuous pattern of objectification and sexually harassment of women throughout his career. We must face the fact that Schwarzenegger generally has come across as a sexist jerk.
When revelations began to materialize about Schwarzenegger's mistreatment of women, he first responded by saying that he didn't know back then that he'd be running for governor today. I don't think that's an explanation, and I know for certain it's not an exoneration. More recently, Scwarzenegger and his promoters have said that he made up those episodes to promote a documentary about his life and to advance his sport. If it has taken this long to state that what he said in the past is a lie, and if it was, in fact, a lie ... then why should we, as California voters, trust that anything he will say as governor will be truthful? I know that there are those who feel that a politician's sex life is politically irrelevent, but this goes beyone Schwarzenegger's sex life ... it reflects an attitude toward other people, especially women, that is important to know about before we cast our votes. It's worth knowing if a politician is a liar and hypocrite.
the intern gets to be CEO? Imagine for a moment that Mr. Schwarzenegger is applying for the position of CEO of Harpo Productions. Would you demand that he at minimum have worked in the business or have some prior experience in watching TV? Would the Board quiz him on how he'd run the company? Would you demand that he have a working knowledge of the where the money comes from and where it's going? Would it be valuable for him to know how to negotiate with the networks and affiliates? In short, would you DEMAND that he be prepared before he walks into the boardroom and expects to be given a seat on the Board? So why is Arnold such a great candidate for governor? He won't give a straight answer to voters, reporters or his opponents. He's unwilling to tell us how or what taxes he'll raise and what services he'll cut because it requires telling painful truths. He's rarely taken the five minutes necessary to vote absentee. He's never held office that requires consensus building. He talks in empty one liners written by Writers Guild members and believes its his handiwork. That kind of behavior is fine for Hollywood celebrity talk shows but wouldn't cut it for 30 seconds among the MBAs in the management suites of the studios, much less here in Silicon Valley. In short, this guy is a fraud as a gubernatorial candidate, but a good actor. Maybe you haven't noticed, but California's financial problems need effective government and tax policy, not entertainment.
------- the slamming oprah posts go on and on. Good! Boycott Oprah. What a sell-out. What would Harry Belafonte say? And how did Oprah choose yesterday's audience?
