Springsteen calls for the appointed one impeachment.
"It's time to impeach the president and get a man in there to get us out of this mess," Bruce Springsteen.:bounce:
:yourock:

Sorry about the Newsmax link. I just grabbed this off a right wing site I was lurking in. I plan on showering very soon. Sorry if this is a dupe.

2. "NewsMax" also sniffs that The Boss...
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 12:16 PM by MinnFats
....may not have been serious since he suggested that Clarence "The Big Man" Clemons take over for Bush.

Hell, Clarence would make a much better president than Bush! A toaster oven would be better than Bush!

"NewsMax" refers to a "report' from a Freeper as the source of this story.....are they spying on rock concerts now for traces of disloyalty?
Freepers don't "get" Springsteen anyway. Remember when Reagan thought "Born in the USA" would make a good campaign song?

also, they refer to him as "aging rocker Bruce Springsteen." I'll be he can kick ass on any freeper age 18 to 60 without breaking a sweat. And then go out and knock 30,000 people out cold with "Cadillac Ranch."

GO BRRRUUUUUUCE!

3. Not Going To Be Easy Dissing The Boss
Mr. Born in the USA, true patirot - loved by all.

Possibilites could include: Clear Channel will sponsor several Bruce Springsteen CD burning parties. but on the other hand....Boss is too popular to pull his songs out of rotation.

4. Bruce is going to have to run for office one day
His voice is too important to America not to exercise it. Lautenberg's replacement?

17. yes, definately
Springsteen could announce his candidacy 15 minutes before the polls open and he's win with a million write-in ballots.

Ever try to get a ticket to one of his shows? They sell out faster than Dennis Miller at an NRA picnic.

10. Well . . .
I've heard reports that when he played Fenway here in Boston, he recommended Frankens book to the audience at the end of the show :).

11. Yep, he's been recommending Franken's book
at all his concerts! Also speaking out against the war in Iraq.

Best line--"People of all political persuasions are welcome at my concerts. Except maybe Dick Cheney!"

8. The freepers were in a snit about this yesterday
All ready to boycott. I guess they had all that success with the Dixie Chicks boycott-what with them selling out their concerts and making millions off their cds, I guess that boycott taught them a lesson.
I guess Bruce should be glad to be a male, so they won't start calling him fat like they do Natalie Mains(they even manipulate photos of her in order to make her look fat, like they do to Hillary). You always can tell when a freeper doesn't like a woman, the first thing they do is attack her appearance.

18. That's funny....
... I remember lurking over there a shortly after "The Rising" came out and they were all talking about how "liberals don't like Springsteen".

Can they make up their minds?

(Maybe they could if they had minds to make up.)

24. NewsMax's source was the DC Freep "co-leader"
Yikes their media machine actually takes them seriously enough to use what she heard or thinks she heard as a source for news.

according to FreeRepublic.com's Kristinn Taylor, co-leader of the group's D.C. chapter

Another concertgoer told an online Springsteen discussion group that Bruce "got a little political, which I thought was great, but he definitely seemed to lose a bit of the crowd around me when he suggested we impeach Bush."

26. Clarence/Bruce or Bruce/Clarence?
Beats Clark/Dean any day, IMHO.

Incidentally, re the "aging rocker" comment: I saw him not two months ago in concert in Chicago and I would kill to be as fit at 34 as he is at 54. Jesus H. Christ. It's like he's 10 people and they've all had adrenaline shots.

C ya,

13. It was Reagan.
Bruce called him to task for it: "I don't think he's ever listened to the words to my song."

21. I thought Bruce took the song back
He wouldn't let Reagan use it. That's the way I remember it.

"Soul Man" was changed by BobDole into "Dole Man" but the artists (?) made him stop using that too.

23. It still gets used for patriotic events
My kid's school did a dance thing awhile back and the girls danced to Born in the USA in RWB costume. To add insult to injury three of the 8 girls were international adoptions, all Asiatic. My wife had to restrain me from going to have a chat with the director.

28. Poppy TRIED to use "Don't Worry Be Happy"
I googled: 'don't worry be happy george herbert walker bush', and got the link to this message in Vintage Guitar Magazine's bulletin board:

"That reminds me of a remark George Herbert Walker Bush made during one of his campaign speeches back in '88. He said something about a spirit of pride or patriotism exemplified by the Boss's "Born in the USA." Then Bobby McFerrin got po'ed that Bush was playing "Don't Worry, Be Happy" at his campaign rallies."
Bobby McFerrin told GHWB not to use his song- HA!

25. Springsteen, Dixie Chicks etc.
Should all have a concert tour.. fairly cheap tickets for young rockers to nudge them all to the left (if they aren't already there) and get them registered to vote in the next election to throw the bastids out!
:kick:
