Why do my married friends keep asking this single mom for marital advice? |
|
LOL! Another one of my good friends, who's been married for over five years (actually, most of my friends are married, given my age, 38, I guess that's normal) had a fight with her husband again last night and was just asking me how to handle it and what to do! It always seems like my married friends are asking me for marital advice at least once a week.
But here's the funny part-I've never been married! So, how would I know what advice to give if I've never experienced living with a man in "marital bliss?" Sure, I have a son, who's 12, so I suppose you could say I already have a little boy to take care of (sorry, guys, couldn't resist it!), but, of course, that's not exactly the same thing!
My mother thinks it's because I listen without judging them and I don't get self-righteous or sanctimonious. That could be, but I still think it's funny!

1. Obviously because you are wise |
|
And they respect your opinion. And since you've never married you can be objective.
Make sense?

2. I don't know about being wise, but I |
|
like the thought that they respect my opinion! That's a good point, too, about objectivity, I hadn't thought of that.

6. They definitely respect your opinion |
|
Otherwise they wouldn't be coming to you. You are a gem. Lucky them! :) (apologies for the rhyme)

That could be, too. I read once that marriage is the one thing that a lot of people who are in it wish they were out of it, and a lot of people who are not in it wish they were!

without immediately changing the subject to yourself.
