Jam fans of DU, unite!
I was just listening to a side or two of Snap!, the "greatest hits" collection of The Jam. Damn, they were a great band; an excellent songwriter/insightful social critic in Paul Weller, and most probably the best rhythm section in punk. Definitely up there in my Punk Top Three, along with the Clash and the Buzzcocks.

I implore you, share your tales of revelry in utter Jamness!

1. mad props to jam/P Weller....
yeah, they are great. saw them about 5 or 6 times years ago. Explosive and raw...show. Felt like they playted for hours. The first three or so albums are the best for me. The solo stuff is good too. Now how about ROCKPILE!!!!!

2. Not so familiar with Rockpile
though I do like Nick Lowe's solo stuff, and think he did a good job producing EC (and I don't mean Eric Clapton) on occasion.

4. The Jam
I remember "That's Entertainment"...a lot of my friends liked the Jam a lot. I am going to revisit them. I listened to a lot of "Gang of Four", as well as The Cure, and of course Talking Heads. Saw all in concert in the 80's. Yep, I'm kinda an oldster.

3. Now THAT'S Entertainment.........
Thanks for reminding me....

I used to go to see a band play almost every Saturday in Camden, London.....They mostly played cover versions and used to belt out some unbelievably good Jam covers...including That's Entertainment, A Town Called Malice, Going Underground......

The Jam truly were one of the great bands of our time....I only wish I'd got into them earlier.

Weller's solo stuff is pretty good though.

P.

5. UK Squeeze
Were also *excellent*. They came out with an album called "Play". Liner notes had lyrics, which were also lines in the play. Really good stuff if you get a chance to hear it. Oh, and don't forget Devo. And XTC. Remember when walkmans were all cutting edge? I was in art school at Berkeley and would paint to XTC, listening on my high-tec walkman.

6. I am a big Clash fan
I can hang with the Jam though.

I also like Madness, and the Selector.
