Drummers that sing
(Ringo doesn't count)

Karen Carpenter "Nothing for me thanks"
Don Henley "She said she had a learners permit, I swear"
Phil Collins "Peter who?"
The Romantics guy (Jimmy Marinos)"You want fries with that?"

Who else?

1. Rachel Carns
from The Need (Olympia, WA-based punk/riot grrrl band). She doesn't sing *all* the lead stuff, but *woof*... she's amazing. The first time I saw The Need live, Rachel performed with a headset duct-taped to her head so she could sing while drumming. Good times ;-).

Also, Shivika Asthana from Papas Fritas.

4. Micky Dolenz of the Monkees
I know many will disagree that he was a "real" drummer but hey he did learn how to play the drums and he sang. I have seen the Monkees in concert more than several times and can attest to this fact.

Of The Band.

Does anyone else think that Don Henley is the most uncomfotable looking guy at a drum kit?

9. Mickey Hart of the Dead (sorta, technically)
I think he does something like one song per show now, but usually he just hits a cowbell or something while he's singing. And I'm not sure I'd call it singing anyway -- but this is the Dead we're talking about. :)

That's why I left off "Grateful". I never heard him sing until he put out his Mystery Box album.

11. The ORIGINAL: Dave Clark of the Dave Clark Five.
More appearances on Sullivan than any other band, surpassed in the 60's only by the Beatles, The Stones and Elvis for #1 hits.

The only band I've ever seen where the drummer was the front man and a singer.

14. I can't believe that no one has mentioned Ringo!
He sang "A Little Help From My Friends" and some other Beatles' songs, but the two or three hits he had solo were good songs. I always liked "Photograph" and "It Don't Come Easy". The "No-No" song is funny.

beautiful voice, incredible drummer, kinda like Moe Tucker, and I guess we could add her, as she sings when she fronts the Moe Tucker band - though her voice ain't near Georgia's.

20. Stewart Copeland
Stewart sang (and wrote) "On Any Other Day" (Reggatta De Blanc), as well as sang back ups in concert.

He also released an album of all his own material (Klark Kent) where he sang and played all the instruments.
He's not a great singer (it was always a bit tongue in cheek) but the album shows how talented the guy is.

Buddy may be the best drummer-singer in rock music. "Them Changes" really showed how good a singer he is. He did some great stuff with Santana and Jimi Hendrix.
