Did you do "Hands Across America"?
I did - I was in Chicago, near the Lincoln Park Zoo.

I think I still have the t-shirt.

Kind of a neat thing, the hands across america idea. Also kind of a lame, idiotic thing. But what the hell. Apparently it raised some money.

2. Yes, I did. My mom made me! I think she thought it was
historical and wanted to be a part of it, so we did it.

3. You mean, back in 1986?

If so, I was in Navy Boot Camp. They did a thing called "Hands Across RTC" (Recruit Training Command), halfway through which it rained like a motherfucker, necessitating the participants' running like hell back to their respective divisions! Thankfully, I was on sentry duty that afternoon, so I didn't have to do Hands Across RTC. I was one of the few recruits in my division who wasn't soaked to the skin!

Ahh, memories.... :eyes:

7. my wife did. she has pictures
I lived in New Hampshire which apparently wasnt considered a part of America that day. I was crushed at the time but now laugh that my wife has teenage pictures that appear to show her awaiting a meeting with Earth's Alien captors.

10. I did
One day I saw these blue lines were painted on the road, like a median line,it paased outside my house I wondered why. It didn't dawn on me it was a line for hands across america.I had no clue about hands across ameerica'cause I wasen't watching much TV then. I heard people mention it but I had no clue.

One day I saw a long line of people on the blue line.I assumed it was a parade or something. I walked on by,I had my keys in hand to go home. There were two guys were stretching because the line was sparse and they could not touch hands,I walked by them to get to my porch, oblivious..Suddenly one dude yelled to me,and and asked me to hold thier hands,so walked over and I did..I asked what the hell this was about, and they said hands across america..I said OookAyyy..and in baltimore at least on my street the linking was done.
We stood there for like 15 minutes.. I saw myself on Channel 2 :),I looked confused LOL

9. If memory serves, there were breaks in the dessert areas
(understandably - both a lack of people, and lack of wanting people to staqnd for hours in godforsaken heat), filled in with ropes or chains or something.

But apart from parts in the line which they knew advance weren't going to really have people, I think they actually did manage to get the line linked across the country.
