There are tons of $1 copies of /Blair Witch Project/ on VHS. |
|
I saw them at Continental Sales by Midway Airport. They had the sequel there too. I wonder why this movie that everyone was talking about ended up like that. Maybe they just hit a bad time and everyone was getting DVD player just as they were putting out a normal-size run of tapes.
The movie is much funnier if you interpret the ending this way: the chick freaks out because she catches a glimpse of the guy pissing in the corner of the house and she faints and drops the camera.

5. It doesn't stand up to a second viewing |
|
The first time that I saw it, I was drawn in. The second time, I sat wondering how I had been fooled the first time. A lot of people have had that same experience.

6. It was first movie to create its buzz solely on internet and due to this |
|
contrived grass roots vibe, the fact it was a one trick pony was overlooked. It came a time when public was so tired of the same ol' shove it down your throat movie marketing that embracing it seemed like an act of defiance. I know someone involved in the marketing -- made his career. I am sure lots of the initial favorable internet reviews were very manufactured. I heard the plot of the movie was ripped off from another underground film.

Total fluke. Pure shite. Director's a one-hit wonder/flash-in-the-pan who can't get himself arrested. (apologies to other, more deserving, one hit wonders.). Cast will never work again/agents don't give a fuck, not even for extra work.
A buck is about ninety cents too much. The very space the black VHS cassette fills spatially takes up too much air. Destiny: land fill. Environmentally sad.
(edit) Heard the director is currently depressed and suicidal. Go figure.

9. Many movies with manufactured "buzz" end up that way |
|
Remember Titanic? Isn't it the number one grossing movie of all time? I cannot get ONE person to admit they saw it, much less liked it. Not a single one. Well someone saw it.

11. Well, I liked "Titanic"...but that's just me. |
|
Plot stunk, but the scenery was incredible, the CGI stuff was amazing, and I wish it was me that was in the back of that Renaullt with Kate Winslet...
Never saw "Blair". I head that it was shot in hand-held "jerky-cam" style, and I had now desire for motion sickness..

Blair Witch was terrible. It's somebody's home movies that made over $100M.
Notice that nobody associated with that flick has really done any significant work since?
People simply got suckered into seeing it and buying it on video, and realized how lame it was. Hence, when it came time for spring cleaning, out it went.
