When is "middle age" nowadays? |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 05:19 PM by SemiCharmedQuark
Again, I've been thinking about age a lot lately. It used to be 30 was middle age. But people live longer nowadays and also get married, start a job, and have kids later in life.
Also, people still look great into their forties and even fifties.

3. I just hear about a study |

Where poor diets will start to shorten life expectancy and the current teens may actually have a shorter life than us 40-somethings. Anyone have a link to this?

My opinion is that over 50 = getting near the top of the hill.

6. I'll go with 40 as middle aged. |
|
Since the average person lives to be 70-80...it makes good sense. I like the idea of 20 year increments.

8. The average senior citizen today can expect to live to 89, so that'd |
|
put middle age around 45.

A couple of years ago, there were some articles I read explaining that, since people live longer now, concepts like "young adult" and "middle aged" needed adjustment. Fine with me! I know that a lot of marketers today go after the 21 to 49 age group, which I think was narrower a few decades ago (more like 21 to 35).

you can divide it by 2.
