Gotcha! Bet no one here was a fan of "Faulty Towers!" |

Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 08:23 PM by KoKo01
Watched some old VHS last night because we couldn't find anything, TV, Music or movies we wanted to watch (still sick over this election) and back in the dusty corners of the cabinet were some old VHS we'd taped of that show way years ago...
It's the first time we've laughed in months. And, we thought we'd watch and turn them off as "dated."
It's the "simple" humor sometimes when life is so complicated... But, it worked for us...and we wouldn't have thought of it but too tired to rent something and there was nothing else that we could think of in our glum mood.

on one of the tapes. I remember it being really hysterical...but we only watched two episodes last night.

shows up in the box of cookies at the end and looks the health inspector right in the face. Hilarious!

Any of us who have elderly relatives with hearing aids who won't turn them on would roll on the floor about that. I've had a couple in my family. :D

20. They were all great, but two stick in my mind |
|
One in which some hot chick checks in and through a series of convoluted events, Basil ends up in her room over and over and his wife catches him every time. Stupid concept, but hilarious.
And the one about manuel's pet rat and the health inspector....

In Canada, in the 1970's, Faulty Towers was on TV DURING THE DINNER HOUR, via basic cable or the 'ol "rabbit ears"...
We had our choice sitting behind those old folding TV dinner tables: Walter Cronkite/local news, or "Farty Towels"...guess which was more popular?
Now you know why we supply the US with comedians.
TRIVIA: In Spain, in the dubbed versions on VHS, Manuel is from TIJUANA, not Barcelona, so's not to offend anybody!
edit: spleeling.

I actually bought a couple of tapes that have 3 episodes each. One of our PBS stations (Seattle) usually does a Fawlty marathon every time they do a pledge drive.
PBS is way more popular in Canada than in the US. In Vancouver, we actually get two - the Seattle one and one from Detroit.
